My solution when the other mentioned ideas didn't work was this: I removed the 7 Torx #20 screws ( a common screw driver will work as well) and removed the housing half to expose the shaft. The chuck shaft bearings and gear lifts out as one assembly. Directly behind the chuck there is a half inch section of shaft exposed. I mounted a vise grip on the shaft (won't hurt it) and clamped the affair in a bench vise. With a 5/16" allen wrench mounted in the chuck and using a mallet I spun the chuck off with a solid smack counter clockwise . Very simple and easy .

SOURCE: got a broken drill chuck i cant get off (Dewalt)

first remove the chuck retaining screw LH thread, next shift the tool to the drill only position and the low side. Find a bent handle allen wrench and insert the short piece into the chuck and clamp down, place the chuck with the long portion at about a 30 degree so you can strike it counter clockwise, usually a block of wood or work bench will do and then get a hammer and safety glasses and hit it, it might take a couple times but it will come off

SOURCE: removing the dewalt DC925 'rohm' chuck

I simply placed the chuck into a large vise and turned the drill counter clockwise and the chuck spun right off no problem without damaging anything!! It does have some thread lock on the chuck but just use your man strength and its as simple as turning the lid off the pickle jar! Do not waste your time or money with the removal tool...YOU DONT NEED IT!

Change chuck on dewalt 236 1/2 13 mm vsr drill Dont know how to get it off pls help

There is a torx headed screw inside the chuck that is reverse thread (Right hand to loosen) - remove that then the chuck will spin off standard thread (Left hand loosen)
Most of the time I chuck a 1/2" allen wrench into the chuck, mount the drill in a vise, and strike the wrench with a hammer to get the chuck off

Dewalt keyless chuck stuck

nope... make sure there isn't a screw in the center of it... look inside... then take a 3/8th's hex key, tighten the chuck down on the short end of it and smack the long end of it with a hammer. the chuck will unscrew... go get a new one

How do I get the chuck off of my DeWalt DW 117 1/2" VSR Drill Serial #1229?

Open the chuck jaws and look down inside the chuck. You will see a screw head that is holding the chuck to the drill. Once you remove the screw, the chuck should pull off easily.

Does a Dewalt 106 have a set screw?

Dewalt's DW106 does not have a set screw inside the keyless chuck to hold it on. This means the chuck was put on with enough lok-tite and torque to keep it on under most circumstances so getting it off will not be easy. If you're using the allen wrench-in-the-chuck method, give it a good firm whack until it breaks free.

Can not get bit out of dewalt drill DW727 VSR

these drill are a "grip and rip" style chuck, you might have to place the chuck in a vise to get it undone. Though it shouldn't be that tough. I have never gotten a chuck so tight that I could not undo it.
