I had done all these things - it is not a descaling problem

  • Jack Pressley Aug 29, 2011

Another clue could be that the used grind discs seem to be half the original thickness

  • Jack Pressley Aug 29, 2011

did you also have the issue of thin used coffe discs and did control panel fix it

  • Jack Pressley Aug 29, 2011

The comment made on the third try sounds as though the person has homed in the problem

We had excactly the same problem a couple of times recently with a lot of troubleshooting, like adjsusting grinder, reseting the to factory settings, and many more and we end up that it was a problem with pcb control board which lost the preset timing of grinding thus the coffee grinding where about 3-4 sec and the correct one shold be about 8-9 sec. We have here one side which have the control board for your reference.

Yes the thin coffee dregs is the same problem , less grinding time mean less grounded coffee, thus thing dregs.
All will solved with the new control board which will bring back the correct grinding times.

What control board did you have replaced? The front one with the buttons or the power board in the back? Having the same problem but I replaced the front board with the buttons and still have the same issue.

This worked for me: turn coffee knob to max and water to min, turn coarsness to max, then make 15-20 coffees right one after another. After few coffees youll see that grinding time is getting longer. I managed to prolonge from 5 sec to 12sec. I find this solution on some German site and I dont know how or why is this working, but it is. I use to change grinders, control boards, power boards and nothing works but this.
This is the result:

I tried to brew 20 shots this way. The grind time barely moved from about 3.5 seconds to 4.3. It's a huge waste of coffee and time with no guarantee on results.

Are you adding too much coffee beans at one time.if yes then this can stop the grinder if beans gets stuck.Or the other possibility is grinder container is already got clogged beans in it, that needs to be cleaned. So first try cleaning the grinder section complete and see if that helps. If not, then its quite possible that grinder motor which spins the grinding blade. That motor is got weak , so it runs for short period and then stops working. The motor needs to be checked and replaced.------
Getting this checked will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Yes that can be the problem related to grind disc.Due to this grinding stops after short period.Maybe the disc needs replacing.--------
    This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hello there,
My dear friend, have you treid cleaning the machine. If it has worked for a while and have not been cleaned. Some bean might be stuck in some area and that way it will always grind short.
Clean up is simple with the decalcification auto program, the machine will tell you when it needs cleaning. The removable drip tray helps you keep the cup area clean. The removable water container can be filled and cleaned. The used coffee grounds are can easily be removed from the 7 ounce bean container. The silver machine is easy to wipe clean and the small footprint help it fit into most every kitchen.
After cleaning, try to use the machine once again. Then you try to troubleshoot it once in a while. In order for you to have it in good shape.
Hope this helped. Goodluck Elect_Comp

Delonghi Esam 2800 coffee machine. The grounds tray light comes on?

Question edited for clarity.

You are aware that we are Fixya and not DeLonghi?

These machines are problematical in home use, and when they go wrong you just pick them up and take them to the nearest Service Centre. Too many models and they all have issues.

Fill beans

the coffee beans are not entering in the grinder disks and since they rotate without coffee the machine understands that their is no beans. You need to clean the grinder disk and grinding coffee funel to bee sure their nothing blocking the coffee movements. Use a vaccum cleaner and try to clean everything in grinder and grinder exits. Try also the machine by regulating thegriding to more gross coffee and when it will start grinding normal then you can udjust step by step back to grinding position you have at the begeining.

Grinding makes a lot of scratch noise and coffee wouldn't drip. The machine says to fill the beans but container is full.

Likely a foreign object is blocking up the grinder. Remove all beans and run at coarsest grind to try to clear it, chase it through with more beans if necessary. If this does not clear it then the top burr of the grinder assembly can be removed after disassembling the machine. Mark the grinder coarseness cogs before moving them to assist reassembly. Moderately difficult procedure.

How to replace Delonghi magnifica esam 3300 hot water/steam Adjustment knob ? Try around but can not take it out ...

ha this is the same problem i had just last week at a customers house with the same machine , the knob does pull off but it is hellish tight and you feel like the valve is about to burst through the front of the machine but it does pull off, when fitting the new knob it is a good idea to put some grease over the shaft before pushing the new knob on as it's nearly as hard pushing the new one back on as taking the old one off.
