Go into your computers control panel, under devices and printers locate your printer and right click, go into hardware and drivers and click update driver and let the computer search on it's own.

The PE16 is listed as a GDI printer. This means that the laser imager within the printer is directly controlled from software, not from firmware through a portable printer language (such as PCL or PostScript).

Such printers are easier for the manufacturer to engineer (they're all software), but the "driver" must be specifically tailored for each OS. There's no Mac OS X driver for the PE16/PE114e either, they're listed as "Compatibility Level 5" (a fancy way of saying "NONE"):

If you have the choice betwen parallel port and USB, I'd recommend connecting via USB.

I'm not certain, but I think the hardware detection routines work better via USB.
