Unplug the power cord and remove the RTC battery,quarter size watch type battery, for 10 min's.Put the battery back in and power it up.that should clear the cmos

It is safer to remove the battery for two minutes.
If there is any residual charge in the system, and you use the jumper, you can damage the motherboard.

If you insist on using the jumper:
First unplug the power supply then push the start button to ensure the system has no charge, then change the jumper for about ten seconds.
Put the jumper back in the original position, plug the power supply back in, and you can boot he system .

The first step would be to clear the CMOS ram manually. To do this, you need physical access to the mother board.

- Make sure the power is off but do not unplug from power.

- Locate Clear CMOS (JBAT) Jumper. From above, lower right hand corner.
- Simply remove the jumper and put it back again.
- Power up.
- If problem persists:

- May be faulty ram
- If you have a video card installed, uninstall it and connect monitor to VGA port of motherboard. It could be a faulty video card.
- CPU could be over heating, clean with compressed air, check fans and CPU grease.

there are three pins on board area where the jumper is fix the jumper on the middle pin and the other unused pin and power the machine to clear cmos. rate this solution

BIOS reset, you jump the other 2 pins to reset.

Open the cover of your computer and look for a lithium battery inside remove the batter for a sec or look for a pin that says 'JBAT' move the pin to 2-3 for a sec then back to 1-2, your bios will be reset(aplicable in both desktop and laptop)

If you have another computer download the previous BIOS update of version 3.0 and see if that works.

What install disk are you talking about, and sorry ,need to know the error too.

remove the ram and check for any dust deposits in the ram slot, if you replaced the same ram stick, it should be alright. If you need to you may need to reset the bios, by way of the JBAT 1 terminal CLRCLK, or CLRCMOS terminals or similair, so refer to your manual. Also remove all peripherals apart from the ram processor and hard drive and try again, if you have 2 ram sticks try one at a time

Try the old memory back in and see if you get the bios screen showing up, if not find the clear cmos jumper either marked JBat 1, clrclk, clrcmos or similar and try again. If neither your old memory or new no longer allows the pc to boot, i would say that the motherboard has been stressed when you have fitted the memory by forcing a flexing in the board and damaging the cmos chip, only replacing the board can resolve the issue if that is the case
