My radio transmits fine. Until recently it received fine. Now it transmits but it does not receive. I've played with the squelch and volume. No luck. Can you advise.

Your finals are fried. Take it to a shop and they will fix the finals. Before you do that be sure to put in an extension speaker just to be sure. Most CB shops are inexpensive.

The RX light should light up when receiving a signal. It may be your squelch setting is too high. Push the VOL knob until it enters the squelch setting, then set the squelch so it just cancels noise. If still not working you could have a wire broken in connector from headset that plugs into the radio.
do you have the volume turned up? Squelch turned all the way left and RF gain all the way right. If you still don't hear anything check to see if this model has a dynamic squelch .If it does turn it off.
what time of day are we talking here? usually skip is so heavy from 0800 until 1600 that no radio has a chance of transmitting or receiving.If you turn the squelch the other way what does it do?
I have a Radio Shack Pro 97 Scanner that I received as a present 1-1/2 years ago. It was working just fine and then suddenly there was no squelch or volume. The keys make noise when pushed, but there is no sound for the squelch or volume. The scanner scans the frequencies but does not stop and play. I went on line and found that other people were having the same problems. I went back to the store that the unit was purchased from and received no help what so ever, they said it’ s off warranty and I was out of luck, nice way to do business??. I think that something that cost as much as this should not be junk after a short period of time. It is either a programming problem, such as the Rx is not programmed correctly OR your radio needs to be looked at by a technician to determine the issue.
