Hi, I wonder if you can help. I have a logitech Sphere AF. Since upgrading to the latest software, I have a very odd problem. When using video chat in Gmail, the callers image is reversed, and the small inset box that shows my own image is also reversed, it's very offputting. I have tried the obvious and checked that the orientation is set to normal and not mirrored. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Try setting it to mirror to see the results. If it's good, then you know that the latest software is causing the problem.

Please read THIS article from Logitech regarding this issue. Make sure that 'Canecl Echo' box has been checked in the software under "Audio Settings".

Also make sure that you have the latest QuickCam software - v11.5. You can download it HERE.

SOURCE: Logitech Quickcam Chat - no sound recording!

At the bottom right of your screen, you should see an icon for volume. Right click and select Open Volume Controls. Click Options > Properties > recording and make sure all the boxes are checked. Click OK and make sure all levels are maximum and nothing is muted.
Next, right click the volume icon again, and select Adjust Audio Properties. Go to Audio tab and then Voice tab and select the appropriate recording device from the drop down menu.

By the way, your camera will only show up under Imaging Devices in the Device Manager and not under Sounds,Vidoe and Game controllers.

SOURCE: No video when using quickcam pro 9000 on google chat (gchat)

I had this problem but I fixed it. The google chat uninstaller does not uninstall everything. Go to the hidden folder Application Data of the default or local user in the Documents and Settings folder of the C drive, you will find the plugin folder for google chat. Delete it and then reinstall the plugin and it will work.

Firefox has nothing to do with the operation of your webcam.

Follow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.


A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
2. Then click on the Video Settings.
3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger

1. On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
2. Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
3. Next click on Enhanced IM.
4. Then click on Audio Video.
5. The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera

Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
· The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
· images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends. Hope this helps. Bud

Thanks rcodrix! I had the same problem and it got solved after following your steps.

More details of Step 2 given by rcodrix -

Once u remove the back cover, you will come across the pcb with small chip on it, carefully remove the 4 screws attaching the board to casing. The board also contains the camera lens. Remove the camera casing (small black cuboid..didn't have any writing on it as described by rcodrix though) and turn the lens to adjust the resolution. put evrything back.

The webcam may be a Logitech Orbit
Check to see if you have a focus ring around the lens to sharpen the image
Make sure the USB port you are using is 2.0 (enhanced)
You may have to re-install your software

Camera doesn't come on when I try to activate installation.

sotware for cameras dont work for apple unless in UVC mode means plug and play. here is a list of cameras compatiable to apple computers.

Logitech Quickcam Orbit AF swivels and picture freezes

I used to have the same problem. Uninstall the software and then download and install the latest version from logitech. Make sure you unplug the cam before installing the updated software.

I got this of Skype.
We are sorry to hear that you are having problems with Skype video.
Thank you for contacting Skype customer support about your video settings.
If you are using a Logitech webcam, please follow the steps below:
NB! To begin with please close Skype and make sure that you have unplugged the webcamera before installing the installation software that came with it.
1) Go to the control panel and open Add/Remove programs. Then from there uninstall any Logitech webcam software and Logitech webcam drivers from the list shown.
2) Download the latest drivers for your webcam from

3) Open the webcam installer package by double clicking it.
Now select: Custom installation (advanced) and click next. You are now given a choice whether you would like to install the software and drivers or just the drivers. Please select the second option (Logitech QuickCam drivers) then uncheck 'Enable VoIP Device Management' and click 'Next'. Accept the agreements and on the next page select 'I do not want to activate this Service' (Logitech destkop Messenger). Click 'Next' and the Logitech drivers should be installed. Restart your system and plug in your webcam. Your webcam should now be correctly installed.

maybe the problem machine has other issues..did you check for driver quality in the control panel, system hardware devices ?

download the latest drivers. Then go into the yahoo messanger setup and setup video chat to use the camera. If you are having problems doing this.. uninstall anything camra related and start over.. installing the latest software from logitech before plugging in your camera.
