If it's a windows 7 or Vista it should let you reset the password anything older than them then you have no hope but to re-install or install vista/7

Notebook only goes to f2 or f12 wont boot
If you can't get passed the F2, F12 then maybe the keys are disabled.. Windows does this sometimes. To release just hit "F".. if that doesn't do the trick then probably drive is corrupt..
You will need to restore using restore disc if you have one.

if its a winxp login password, for starters press ctrl, alt, del and type in administrator for username and press enter without password

if its your admin password that you forgot,
then try using the hirens boot cd 9.9 this can never fail.
