Residential reroof, 3 layers comp. is ice & water required over eaves & rakes ???

Great question about re roofing with ice and water shield over the eaves and rakes. I too have had similar questions about when its necessary to use ice and water shield. I imagine that working with a licensed roofer would be helpful. http://www.us-roofing.com

Probably not required unless an older home or low slope roof, but very easy and not expensive to do when re-roofing. When attics were poorly insulated snow would melt above the attic from heat lost from the house, then refreeze at the eave causing an ice dam. More melting water hits the ice dam then back up under roof shingles and felt paper.

It is not required, but your specific conditions could warranty it. If your roofer is recommending it I would do it.

There is layer of ice that has formed at the bottom of the freezer side. Due to this there is a leak of water that appears every two or three days. I cleaned the layer of ice once and after 2 or 3 weeks...

Sounds like the drainage hole is blocked with ice, i normally take the back cover off the freezer and at the bottom you will see a build up of ice at the bottom, turn freezer off and carefully remove as much ice as you can, then pour some boiling water over the excess ice and in the middle you will see a drain hole make sure water then freely flows down drain hole. Other than that you could try switching your freezer off for 24 hours to clear ice.

My water works on my refrigerator but my ice maker doesn't work.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , replace the water valve ( the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig ) . If it freezes and does not dump , replace the ice maker . Also check the rake ( rotating arm ) , to see if a small piece of ice could be blocking it , keeping it from turning . If so , the small cube could be an indication of not enough water going into the ice maker ( replace the water valve ) .

KitchenAid ice dispenser tray is dry - not working

Put some water in the ice mold is what I would try. wait and see if the ice maker harvest a batch. If it does drop a batch but no more then the water valve is probably shot. The ice maker itself controls the water. It does this by filling the ice mold for 7.5 seconds. Here is your Ice maker repair manual and some repair photos along with a pictorial which snows how to check the water valve.

WATER LEAK INSIDE

It likely has a hiding drain tube built inside the rear wall itself.
There are many many different models also.

Try to see if you can see the drain hose near the Compressor, and blow into it to see if it clears.

A lot of fridges require a serviceman to remove inner panels, ect to clear the problem.

Also,it might be ice built up at the top freezer section, preventing any further draining during regular defrost cycles.

Replaced ice maker in kenmore elite last year. stopped working again.replaced ice control sensor boards, still nothing.replaced module, poured some water in tray, freezes, rake starts down, hits ice then does...

the rakes can only move the ice if the tray has been heated .. there is a heater mounted on the tray that may be bad or not getting power . here is the sequence that should happen

the water solonoid operates to fill the tray (you should hear it click when this happens) .. then the tray is left alone until the cubes have frozen .. then the heater comes on to free the cubes from their mold then the rake operates to scoop out the ice .. the rake cant move the cubes unless they have first been freed by the heater .. it sounds like you have power (rakes moved) but its not clear if the water fill function is working .. even if it wasnt, if you filled the trays then it should still work but you would have to wait for the complete sequence .. you can feel the heater get hot at the right time if its working (just before the rakes move) .. its a bent tube structure mounted on the ice forming pickets .. be careful it can get pretty hot .. i cant tell but if several things are not working like it doesnt fill with water and the heater doesnt come on ever then that sounds like a connector not fully connected or damaged .. or perhaps a bad (new) module (broken solder connection or otherwise damaged) .. .. you can check the heater with an ohmmeter . it should read low resistance between hot terminals .. and open from ground to either terminal ..(power off and disconnected of course) .. make sure the heater is indeed plugged in ..

Ice machine does not make ice

No guide that I know of .

Open the freezer door and see if the laser light on the right side , flashes twice , then pause , repeatedly . Close the flap on the left side , and the laser should stop flashing . If this is what occures , then the optics ( cut off of the icemaker ) are ok . If you open the freezer and no laser on the right , check the position of the "rake" inside the icemaker . Close the freezer door for about 1 min , and then recheck the position of the rake . If it hasn't moved , then the icemaker is bad .
If the light flashes 2 times then pauses , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker , and check later , to see if the ice maker has dumped the cubes . If did not dump , replace the icemaker . If did dump , and did not fill with water , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . Also check the black fill tube above the ice maker fill cup , to see if it is iced up , keeping the water from going into the fill cup . If it is frozen , then replace the water valve , due to seeping ( not closing completely ) , causing the slight drip , to freeze inside the tube .
This is the only guide I know of and it's called an experience guide .

Why does water occasionally leak from bottom of

There is a pan at the bottom of the unit. It catches the defrost cycle water and the heat from the comp. and condensor helps it evaporate. But, it's plastic. Mice have probably chewed holes in it trying to get at the water...They must have water to survive, right? Remove it and you'll see the holes....Then, replace it or epoxy the holes in it with plastic layering from old butter containers etc.

Ice maker flooded top freezer compartment

It may be just the water control valve on back of refrigerator. Put tap water in ice maker and lower lever for on. After ice is made, does it drop to tray? At this time when empty is the time the control valve is asked for water. The problem could be in valve on back or the inside ice maker itself. If you can try a few test with me I will help you locate the problem. Let me know what you find as I go through this with you. Sea Breeze
