There is a constant loud hum on my telephone. I changed the cord, but that does not solve the problem

Try the following steps to stop subwoofer hum.

1. If the subwoofer is plugged into its own outlet, plug the subwoofer's power cord into an outlet shared by the other components. Use an extension cord if necessary.
2. If the hum persists, and your system includes a cable TV, disconnect the cable line. If the hum stops, install an isolation transformer on the cable.
3. If the hum persists, disconnect the remaining component cables one at a time until the hum stops. Install a coaxial isolation transformer on that cable.
4. If the hum persists, install a line-level ground loop isolator on the subwoofer's line-level feed cable. This usually solves most hum problems.
5. If nothing helps, disconnect all the audio cables from the subwoofer. Leave the subwoofer plugged in and switched on. If the subwoofer hums, it points to a defective unit. Contact the company's customer service to technical support.

If the noise get louder as you speed up, it is possibly a wheel bearing, needs checking out by a mechanic.

try plugging into a different socket if that doesnt solve problem you may need to replace cord. sounds like a loose neutral in socket though.

Does the humming noise reduce or change in pitch slightly when turning a corner?
Most likely a wheel bearing failure. Also, when one wheel bearing on one side fails, the other is not often far behind. I often therefore replace in pairs.

There is no such ground points in the Stanton STR8-100. The main thing you have to check is the RCA cable used. You should a high quality RCA cable suitable for Phono connections. If you use a normal RCA cable then it will produce HUM because if its weak ground shield.

Try with a good quality RCA cable with Good ground shielding.

If it is only affecting the DVD, are you coming in with analog or digital audio from the DVD?

If analog, disconnect the cables at the HTS and see if that solves the problem. If it does we look out toward the DVD, possible cable picking up hum. from proximity to a TV or power cord, bad shield, etc.

If not, yeah, something internal and needing a pro to peek at it.

Back up your files and buy a replacement drive the grinding noise is the hard drive experiencing mechanical failure and may stop working soon.

Make sure you have a ground prong on your power cord. Most input jacks nowadays are closed circuit. They have a switch built in that won't allow any sound without the cord plugged in. You may have a damaged jack that will give you a loud hiss, a loud hum or crackling depending on what volume your controls are set at.

Try using the OSD menu to Deguass it.
