Camcorder DCR - SR200 the display on our camera scrolls so you can't tell what you are recording & it is also difficult to use the menu buttons as they are scrolling by as well.

The error message that you are seeing requires that you to take the camera in for service, since a failure has occurred that the owner cannot fix themselves:

E:20:ss / E:31:ss / E:61:ss / E:62:ss / E:91:ss / E:94:ss

A malfunction that you cannot service has occurred. Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility. Inform them of the 5-digit code, which starts from E

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to usually be repaired by a qualified service technician.

we have the same problem..mine is sony dcr-sr200

when you connect to PC if you can see the disk/camcorder drive in my computer, copy entire folders to your PC it will work.
possible : Check /replace USB cable
:without using sony software copy files from my computer.
:if lcd not working, use the copy button from the camera docking unit

It's most likely a broken LCD flex cable which goes through the hinge. It's a common problem with these cameras. I repair them every day as I work in a Sony service center. If you're out of warranty, talk to Sony, maybe they are ready to pay half of the repair or something like that as I believe it's a factory fault.

Hi, I just fixed mine. I have the sr200 and my screen would flicker and shut off unless I held it in a certain position. Ordered the the 2 flat cables and after i installed them I got a rolling screen.Upon further inspection I found that the wider of the 2 flat cables wasn't inserted all the way. That fixed my problem.BTW the 2 flat cables cost me $53 with shipping verus $170 that some company wanted to charge for the fix.Hope this helps.

After researching various flexible cable numbers from different posts, I found that the SR-200 uses a unique cable, FP-610, part number 187145711. This has been discontinued and replace with part number 187145721 (same cable also used in DCR-SR300).

If you are in doubt with your camera, just take it apart up to the point of seeing the ribbon cable. The part number is printed on the side.

I found two sources for this so far, www.nexttronics.com and https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-parts.aspx. Price ranged from $30 to $40 plus shipping.

DCR-SR200 is complicated camera and pls contact nearest Sony service shop for proper repair.
