Called customer service for E1 error code. they told me keyboard locked and have to get someone to service it...can't there be anything else other then pay to have a $250.00 air conditioner fixed for almost the same price. there has to be something I can do. please advise.

call customer service for assistance with problem or on how to return if you start fiddling with it can possible void warranty

replace keyboard. they are readily available from $18.00 for a new one

You might want to try the troubleshooting procedures on pg 47.

States if error code appears, "Call your dealer or Star Trac at (800) 503-1221, or USA 1-714-669-1660 for service."

I will answer my own problem here, maybe it will help someone else. After BH North America customer service told me I needed a new lower control board and I had to spend $100+, it wasn't the board. Then they said it was the speed sensor, they sent that out for free, that wasn't it. Now, they would not respond to me. So, we went off the troubleshooting guide saying it was a connection problem between the upper and lower board. My husband opened up the "leg" of the treadmill and checked the connections (cutting the tie cords that hold the wires tightly in place, maybe too tightly and that's what caused them to come unplugged) and now the belt runs! So, BH got another 100 dollars of my money, on top of the original $800 and solved nothing and then ignored my emails. Horrible customer service and when this one finally bites the dust, I will never purchase a machine from them again. P.S. This treadmill is only approx. 2 yrs old.

Meaning of error code E1
The motor sensor or sensors, the DC controller on the main board DC controller.

I can not give solution to your problem, because possibility of damage main board.
I suggest you contact Canon Customer Support (e-mail, telephone, or repair contacts).

E1 code means an elevation problem but I am not familiar with the new Spirit models. Been trying to set up with Spirit now that I am getting calls on them again. Its been 5 years since my last call, best thing to do is get in contact with Spirit and they will direct you on what to do or give you phone # to call a service provider. The older units had a calibration sequence for such a problem.
