It takes about 8-10 times of trying to start up my 2000 mitsubishi galant in the morning(the first start of the day) but during the day when the car is in use and the engine is warm it starts up easily either once or twice.in summary if l park the car for a long time it starts up after trying it for some time..please l need an advice on what to do

Your problem may be one of the following:
First check or just replace the fuel filter. Usually located under the car in front of the rear axle, drivers side.
Next, the fuel pump may be worn out. Usually they get loud or stop working (running).
Next, check the fuel pressure regulator. Usually located on the front fuel rail, drivers side.
Is the vacuum line attached? Not leaking or rotted?
Also, do you smell a strong fuel odor when it won't start? May be one or more stuck-open injectors, or the coil pack is bad.
Checking these in the order listed will more than likely fix your problem.
The clicking noise indicates the battery can no longer run the starter, which also means the fuel pump won't run either.

It could be a fuel issue. How old is the fuel filter? Can you hear the pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key on? Try turning the key to ON without trying to start engine three times waiting for the pump to stop running each time. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, Its a form of Vapor lock caused by the extreme heat we have had lately, and a weak fuel pump.

If none of this works, try a new fuel filter first. From there have someone check the fuel pressure regulator and then the pump. If you are in need of a new pump, take my word for it and spend the money to get one from a Dealer, and not from your favorite parts store. Most parts store parts are made in China and they are JUNK.

Three things might do this. You did'nt say what year model or engine size to the answer is'nt your car specific. The car does run with the check engine light out? If it's running with the light on, you can stop at an auto parts store and they can check to see why the light is on. The coolant temperture senser can make the engine contol computer (think) that the engine is warmer than is is and not shoot enough fuel to keep the engine running good as it's cold . The engine takes less fuel to run hot and theirfore it runs OK. the fuel filter or the fuel pump could not be letting enough fuel pressure to get to the motor and again as the engine warmes up it needs less fuel and runs OK. Sometimes peaple put high octane fuel in an engine that does'nt need it and the high octane fuel burns slower and when the engine is cold it doesn't make as much opresure so it's harder to keep running but as it warme the presures of combustion are higher and the engine runs just fine. If the oil weren't change don the regular time and the oil is old the engine compression might be a lot less than it would be with good oil and the engine may have to warm to have good compression tp run well. If this is the case the oil may need to be changed a few times to get it clean enough to run well.

My engine is smoking when i start engine on mornings

sounds like valve guids are wearing out.. drying out and cracking. only fix is to replace them. or try a heavier oil. sometimes that will help depending on the severity of the problem.
