Water level What should the correct and/or optimum water level be in the tub of this dishwasher for proper operation?

A small amount of water remains after use. I have replaced the check valve and ensured all hoses are clear and not kinked. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!

My GE PDW8200 dishwasher has different levels of water left in the tub after the wash cycle is complete. Sometimes there is no water and sometimes there is an inch of water.

Where is the knockout plug located?  I don't see it in the instruction manual, and I don't want to break something else trying to find the plug.

Hi if this machine has a visible heater element then normally when it has filled then starts to wash then u stop programme by opening the door then the water level should be covering the element but be below the lower spray arms by 2.5 centimetres or so like ERAN says when finished you shouldnt see any water in the base but if you take out the grille or base filter then you may see some water under that....

I'm not sure I understand your question. There isn't supposed to be any water left in the tub after operation. If there's any water left it might indicate that the dishwasher does not drain properly. If that's the case - - If the unit is hooked up to a food waste disposer, make sure the disposer is empty. - Check to see if the knockout plug has been removed from inside the food waste disposer inlet. - Check to see if drain hose is kinked. - Make sure cycle is complete, not in a pause.

Dishwasher stops working a few minutes after being started

Make sure the water is turned on to the unit first--next, is there water entering the tub? Check the float switch--the round, plastic, "flying saucer" shaped object at the bottom of the tub. Gently lift up on it and carefully listen for a very soft "click" sound. That is the tiny switch underneath working. If something gets trapped under the float switch, the washer won't fill with water. Next, if water is indeed in the tub, did you hear the motor pump running? If it runs and then stops, there might be a problem with the control board--check to see if the drain pump works properly--cancel the cycle and listen for the drain pump turning on and draining out all the water. On almost all dishwashers, at the start of a cycle, the drain pump will turn on briefly to pump out any standing water left in the motor base(you can't see the water but it's there) so it doesn't get sprayed onto your dishes. Then, fresh, hot water enters the tub, when the water level reaches the proper level, the float switch rises, tells the computer enough water is present, then starts the main pump. If the water is not being drained out, try to listen for the drain motor humming. If it is running but not draining, it is probably jammed with food or other debris and must be cleared. If the water is turned on but no water is entering the tub, check the inlet water valve underneath the washer--the water line is connected directly to it. It is electrical and operates on 120v. You will need to carefully disconnect the connector from the valve, activate a cycle, and using a voltage meter, check to see if 120 volts is present. If it is there and no water is entering, most likely the valve is bad. If there is no voltage at the valve, either a wire is broken or the main board is defective.

Maytag performa dishwasher, model # PDBL390AWB.

Sounds like to me you have a water restriction somewhere. Double check and make sure that the main water valve coming into your home is fully open. Make sure the water shut off valve(s) going to the dishwasher both have adequate water flow and that means testing them before being connected to dish washer. If that checks out okay, possibly the plunger that opens and closes in the electric water solenoid is sticking and not opening up al the way since the unit has been in storage for all that time. Sometimes tapping on it when it is in operation can free up that sticking plunger and you may get full water flow restored again. If not, solenoid may have to be replaced. Hope this helps out.

I have a GE PDW8400JO3BB dishwasher. It use to take 53 minutes to do a normat load and now takes 83 minutes. Why

There could be a few reasons for this..

Most likely the water temperature is not reaching the optimum temperature required for cycle.
The incoming water supply pressure could be lower which means it takes longer to fill.
The turbidity sensor might not be functioning properly causing the dishwasher to prolong the wash cycle.

Best to run the dishwasher empty with a Finish dishwasher cleaning kit that you can purchase from the supermarket. The instructions are written on the kit.

this should help clean dirt from all the sensors that are located in the tub.

Hope this helps.

When we turn on the dishwasher there is no water entering the appliance..then it cycles to drain the water and I reset it so the pump doesnt burnout...what could this possibly be and is there some...

hi Mapletonmob.
this is all i could find out.

A dishwasher that will not fill with water can be frustrating and repairing it through a serviceman can be expensive. Even for someone who may not consider themselves handy, repairing a dishwasher is not a difficult process. Below we've provided you with a list of the most common parts that fix a dishwasher will not fill with water. Use this information to help troubleshoot which part is broken
The water inlet valve is used to fill the dishwasher with the proper amount of hot water and is controlled by the timer or electronic control. The valve will be located behind the lower access panel and will have two wires attached to it, an outlet hose to the tub and a hot water inlet from the household supply. If your dishwasher does not fill then you should first check the inlet supply to verify that you have enough water pressure and that you have power going to the valve during the fill portion of the cycle. If these conditions are met then the valve is defective and should be replaced. If you do not have power to the valve then you should look at the float switch, the timer or electronic control or the door switches as a possible problem. All of the electrical checks can be made with a multi-meter.
A malfunctioning float could cause the dishwasher to not fill with water. The float is located at the bottom of the dishwasher tub and acts as a safety device that prevents the dishwasher from over filling with water. The float rises with the water level in the dishwasher and when the proper level is reached, the float will trigger the float switch to turn off the water inlet valve. Check that there is no debris or foreign objects that might restrict the vertical movement of the float and that it engages the float switch located beneath the tub.
The float switch sits below the float, beneath the dishwasher tub. When the float switch is triggered by the float, power to the water inlet valve is interrupted and it stops the flow of water into the dishwasher. Verify that the mechanical action of the float to the switch is operating properly and that the wire connections are secure. To check that the float switch is working properly, remove the wires and test for continuity with a multi-meter.
The door switch is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the dishwasher from operating when the door is open. If the door switch or switches are malfunctioning the dishwasher will not fill with water. This door switch mechanism is typically located behind the door panel at the top of the door. To verify the operation of the switches you will need to separate the inner door from the outer door and then remove the wires from the switches and check for continuity with a multi-meter.
We've identified the most common parts that can cause the dishwasher to not fill with water, but there are other parts that could be at fault. If you are unable to fix your dishwasher with the information above,
if none of the above work you might have to call someone out to have a look at it.

Blanco dishwasher overflows at end of cycle

There is a float connected to a switch that controls water level. It is usually round and will move freely up and down by hand. But your problem might be a levelling related one. The dishwasher must be level to operate correctly. Use a torpedo level in the tank base to check front to back level and side to side level. Adjust the front legs to level the unit.

Kenmore dishwasher is not washing properly and leaving dirty water in the bottom when it is finished, Can i fix it?

If your washer is overfilling, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Water-level switch
Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve.

Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.

Water level too high in tub causing water to leak out front

Sounds like the drain hose is disconnected. Check to make sure that the tube is not blocked and is connected properly. If the checks out then you should check your water sensor meter and make sure tht it is stoppingthe system at the correct points.

Water level

Some water in the tub after the cycle is complete is normal. most dishwashers are time filled with a float switch as a safety device. the actual level depends on the fill time and the water pressure. what exactly is the d/w doing (or not doing) to make you think there is a problem?
