There is not a bios partition, as the bios is a firmware on the mother board. You need to press the key specified early during boot up, before the system seeks the hd for load.

first thing you should check is the ac adapter, most are made cheaper today,
next is the ac jack in the back, you can take a toothpic or anything to see if the pin moves at all
if it moves just a little , the ac jack could be bad

It will tell you if there is any chance in hades of installing XP but if you only 'meeting' and not exceeding, you will be disappointed.

If (as I suspect) you are running 98se, you might be better off reinstalling.

I've e-mailed you a link for 2 of the cd's the 3rd may take a while but wait to get all 3

Is it the Operating System you are trying to install?
or the service pack 2 for WinXP?

If it is the OS click on the ASK ME tab under my User ID and leave your contact address, I will send out the 3CD set for compaq Armada/Presario to load the OS and Applications.

If it is the Service pack, don't install SP2, Install SP3
The release candidate 2 is in English, German, or Japanese.
Down at the bootom of this link's page, select the language you want and download approx 315mb

go directly to your power management, disable the battery monitoring icon and set to DC connection, depends on the setting of your BIOS, same idea disabled it

this problem wil be solved by pressing combination.
