My grandkids have a Playstation 2 slimline console. Suddenly it quit playing games and on sytem configuration it says " Disc could not be read ".I changed the 2 memory cards around , and even unloaded both...

hi,
i Had the same problem with reading blue disks as well as the system will no longer read DVD's or DVD based games. Cleaned the heads with a DVD/CD cleaner and it worked for a couple of months and stopped again this past weekend. Found several threads on other sites indicating that if you contact Sony customer support and verify that: (1) you ran thru diagnostic mode (Page 9 in manual), you CD/DVD's work in another machine and aren't damaged, they'll fix it for free.

Contacted Sony yesterday, shipped the system to them in PA, and they are "waiving" the repair charges. There explaination is that since they aren't sure what's causing the problem with my system, they won't charge me for the repair. Shipping charges where $18.00 for UPS ground. It will probably take approx. 3 - 4 weeks to get the system back, but that's a huge savings over buying a new one or trading it in at EB Games for a new / refurbished one. They also will reinstate the 90 day warranty as well.

thank you,

Can older games be used on newer iMac?

I know for mac's it is a bit different.. on PC you can play an older game no problem but for some reason on mac you cannot?

I have a Macbook, and i tried to play Diablo 2... Yes very old game .. but since i was on mac OS 10.5 + ... the CD would not read.... if it was a pretty popular game there might be a newer download or patch you can install so that it will work but other then that i dont think you can.

Problem with original dvd

Before performing any operations, make sure of the following: ? Check the connection with the TV. ? Turn on the TV and select the correct input on the TV to view the pictures or on-screen indications on the TV screen. ? For DVD playback, you can change the Setup menu setting to your preference menu... Alos, make sure thay the system and disc region code numbers are incompatible: The following discs cannot be played back: ? DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-I, (CD-I Ready), Photo CD, etc. Playing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers. * Note on Region Code DVD players and DVD Video discs have their own Region Code numbers. This system can play back DVD discs recorded with the color system of NTSC and PAL whose Region Code numbers include ?3.?
