I can only transfer photos to my computer that were taken since my last transfer even though they all remain in the camera until I delete them. For some reason not all of the most recent photos transferred this time, or else they transferred but now are not on my computer. I want to go back to capture those I don't have but can't as I apparently only get one chance to transfer. What can I do? Nikon Coolpix L18. Thanks.

Recuva (pronounced"recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that havebeen accidentally deleted from your computer. It will even bringback files that have been deleted from your iPod, or by bugs, crashes andviruses!
Put the memory card into an USB card reader and plug it into the USB port in your computer, then run the Recuva program.
Simple to use interface - just click 'Scan' and choose the files you want to recover
Easy to use filter for results based on file name/type
Simple Windows like interface with List and Tree view
Can be run from a USB thumb drive
Restores all types of files, office documents, images, video, music, email, anything.

After reloading a card after your have transfered your photos to a computer, you should always format the card in the camera. Consult the manual on how to do this.
This makes sure all the photos are deleted and rectifies the file structure on the card to suit the camera, so you get maximum write speed and less chance of corrupting the card.

Transfer the images from the memory stick to your computer, make sure the transfer has been successful so you don't lose your pictures, then to be safe put the stick back into the camera and delete them once back in the camera. AGAIN, before you delete anything, make sure your pictures have been safely transferred to your pc and you can view them all. Deleting the photos from the stick will make the disc empty again and ready for more shots to be taken.
is it internal memory or a memory card?
first thing is to transfer pics to a computer
then delete the one you want
usually you can delete them from the camera by selecting them one at a time and deleting them
but it is nuch easier to just transfer them to a computer then deleting the whole memory card
A good reason to use the 'copy' function whle transferring. Doing this will preserve the pix in the camera memory until you are sure they actually arrived on your computer.
If you have a card drive, you might pull your memory card and plug it in directly to see what might remain there.
It may come up as only a 'removable drive' that you can address as if it was any other.
