Hello Driver software to audio may not be installed in your system. Check whether it displays any audio hardware by opening its device manager Tab. To get into this option, Right clik the My Computer Icon, clik on Hardware tab on the pop up window, and click Device Manager tab. You can see all the installed hardware there. Check whether there is any audio devices installed. If installed, you can see it here. If not, there will be a quistion mark against audio devices. OK.
If there is no sound coming out from your desktop, make sure that the audio card driver is installed or updated. To check on this, go to Device Manager ( START - Right Click My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device Manager). See if there is a yellow exclamation point before AUDIO. If there is, then you need to download the driver from the Emachines website.
make sure the volume is not on mute... if thats not the problem go to device manager to make sure u have sound driver install... if u dont have any sound driver install go to ur manufacture website and download and install the driver.
In Control Panel - System (Devices) you must found the name of sound card. One way is to use linux live CD for that purpose (linux Mint is good). Then you must going to HP site to find driver for that model of laptop with sound chipset, and install it on your computer (it is simple setup). I think that you just need right sound card driver...
Try reinstalling the audio driver.
You can download the audio and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windowsdrivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download thedrivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
Make sure that audio is enabled in the BIOS.
Check to see if it displayed in the device manager and that it is enabled, as this will prevent you from installing the driver.
It is also possible that the device is defective and you will need to replace it.
I hope this helped.
Good luck and have a fantastic day.
I think you may have deleted your audio file driver on your laptop the only way to get your sound back is to re-install your audio driver for your laptop as the sound card on your laptop is ok you can find sound card drivers on the internet if you don`t have the drivers for your sound card
