The Dolby digital signal is outputted only through the Optical or Coaxial socket of the CBL box. you will have to get an optic fiber or coaxial cable depending which cable box you have and connect it to the digital input of the Denon receiver. The Denon's digital input are already assigned at the back. Eg: Optic input might be labeled CD so if you are connecting the CBL box to the optic input remember to select CD on the Denon to hear the cable sound, same goes with the coaxial input.

What does PLII C CBL mean?

PL II = Dolby Pro Logic II

C CBL means Coax Cable, most likely your unit has the coax type digiital cable as opposed to OR in addition to optical type digital cable. http://assets.denon.com/documentmaster/us/avr-1613%20owners%20manual.pdf

How should I connect my denon avr 1906 to my 32" ES6300 Series 6 SMART 3D Full HD LED TV Model numberUE32ES6300U in order to get dolby digital from the tv's tuner please?

Use an optical cable.

Be aware though. Your TV has a DVB-T tuner. It picks up the Freeview standard definition (SD) channels, but not the Freeview HD ones. Dolby Digital sound only comes from the Freeview HD channels.

Your TV will pass Dolby Digital from any source connected to a HDMI port to the Optical Out. It will also pass DTS. But the internal Freeview DVB-T tuner doesn't generate Dolby Digital, just stereo and stereo with Dolby Surround encoding where you use ProLogic II for decoding.

How i conecct my receiver to the dish hdtv

First find out if your Dish HD box has an optical or coaxial digital audio out.
Connect this digital out to to the Denon's optical or coaxial input. On the back of the receiver the digital inputs are labeled as DVD or CD/CBL . Remember to select the front input selector of the Receiver according to what ever input you have connected your HD box.
On all TV channels your 5.1 speakers may not work. You can make them work by choosing some of the DSP functions on the Denon remote. Just press the surround button and select Dolby Pro Logic II movies / music. This will convert 2 channel audio to 5.1.

I have a Denon AVR - 391 receiver and was wondering the best way to connect my CD player to as there is no provision for CD player

Sure it does:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Denon-AVR-391-Receivers-manual/id/23705bh449/t/2/

Analog RCA cables go to anything available: DVD; SAT/CBL; DOCK
and/or
Digital audio goes to whatever is available: COAXIAL (SAT/CBL) or OPTICAL(TV)

I have denon avr 987 receiver i messed up settings somehow. when i have receiver set to dolby digital tv i get sound, but no picture. if i switch the setting to DBS i get picture buy no sound. what did...

Are your DD TV and DBS referring to the same source device or are they separate, say, cable Box and Sat Box?

Start over with the digital audio assignments for wherever you plugged in the digital audio cable from (guessing) your Cable TV box (recommended as "TV" is not usually a great source for audio).

The manual:

You might also want to define the specific cabling of things if more is required. Exact point-to-point paths and cable styles for audio and video.

hello,if your using rca plugs from the cable box than dolby digital 5.1 will not be present. You need to use either an optical or coax or hdmi cable from source to the reciever to recieve digital audio.

Denon Receiver AVR 1602 not playing Dolby Digital w/ Samsung BD

Dolby signals are passed via either an RF cable or optical link. Both the receiver and player need to have these switched on and that they are passing the correct signals. You clearly found the correct setting for the TV sound link. Now you just have to find the one for the DVD player.

Denon AVR-688 Dolby Digital issues

IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO CONNECT ANALOG AUDIO IN ADDITION TO THE OPTICAL, COAXIAL OR HDMI AUDIO CONNECTION. IF USING OPTICAL OR COAXIAL CONNECTIONS BE SURE TO CONFIGURE IT IN THE RECEIVERS DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT AREA IN SETUP.
ALSO, ON THE FRONT OF THE RECEIVER IS AN INPUT MODE BUTTON, PRESS THIS BUTTON UNTIL AUTO IS DISPLAYED

PCM 2.0

I had the same problem with my 321 system. The fix is in the cable box settings. You want to change the Digital Out on the cable box..my choices were HDMI....Dolby Digital..and None. Choose Dolby Digital and it will show up on your Bose 321 display. I also have my cable box connected to my bose system via optical digital cable...and a digital coaxel cable from my dvr to my bose. Change that output setting on my cable box took care of the PCM 2.0 problem for me.

Harman kardon avr-147

Hi Javis. This is perfectly normal ! This mode change is done because the receiver auto detects the digital audio signal and sets the receiver's DSP to decode the signal correctly. You can go into the OSD menu to bypass the auto detection of it, but it's not recommended at all ! You're getting the best audio quality by doing so. Thanks ! cheebster.
