Hi, its not the cable!
It needs the drivers for the printer to be installed, go to http://software.canon-europe.com/ and download (&install) the drivers for the MP150 for your operating system.
Visit Canon Official Support Select the operating system (XP) and download the drivers and scanning software. GoodLuck! Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help! CreativeTECH
You can download the installation driver and software from manufacturer's site by clicking this link
On the page which opens, select the operating system of your computer (Windows Xp/ Vista..) from the drop-down menu as shown in the attached image and download the required drivers and software.
The list of available drivers will load only after selecting the operating system of the computer.
Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.
Almost the exact same problem. New 4350d Canon printer trying to connect it with Dell 8300 with XP. The computer says it does not recognize. Tried everything - reinstall drivers, download drivers, tried every USB port, swapped cables, spoke with Canon support and finally took the printer back and got a new one (Canon support person decided the USB board must be bad). New machine - same old problem.
Go to this link. Select Windows XP in the Select OS box. You will see Canon's printer driver for the BJC-2100, and under 'Software' you will see ISScan_v350.exe which is actually the driver for the IS-22, compatible with Windows XP.
Install and download both files on your computer. I know that Windows XP has a driver already for the BJC-2100, but it may not work properly with the IS Scan driver.
