I have a 1950's era New Home sewing machine. I do not have a manuel. I have had this machine about 35 yrs. I have always had a problem with the tension. Now, apparently, the thread is somehow shifting out of the tension crease to the area behind it and breaking the thread. Do you know how this is happening and how I can fix it? I would love to find a manuel. Thans so much. T. Huff

So, I am unable to find information for the New Home 740. However, most machines from the same era thread the same. You might try looking at some videos. Also, I believe Janome makes the New Home machines so you may be able to get a manual for your machine from a dealer.
I suggest to go to Ebay and search for New Home Sewing Machine. If you find one like yours, contact the seller and maybe he/she can help you with what you're needing to know. Sorry I can't be of any help. I own all Singer sewing machines. They've been great machines for me and I've been sewing for over 40 yrs. Good luck. Aria
