I suspect that if you change the battery in the thermostat. All will be right again.

Perhaps you could get some help from Carrier Support here:
http://www.residential.carrier.com/support/index.shtml
I noticed they have an option of talking to an engineer, and perhaps they could explain how to reset or set the unit.
Hope this helps.

We have the same problem, was hit with lightning and came up E1

You didn't get a Carrier tech. Carrier technicians only work on commercial equipment. Residential applicaitions, installation and service of Carrier residential units are done by dealers. They are not carrier owned but get buy the product at discount get training and get to show our logo. You can't fix the boards, they have to be replaced. It sounds like you have a Gen II VVT system. You can get the part via Totaline stores or a distributor. You will need to know how to readdress the other controllers to operate correctly. Use WWW.Carrier.com.

Carrier Comfort Zone 2 flashing E2

the e2 error on your thermostat is a problem with the return temp sensor on your system, the only thing you can really do is call a company and replace it, you can't bypass it or remove it cause the system wont run properly
