Everything is working fine on my lexmark all-in-one except for the fax. It is dialing the number and says that it is connecting but will not connect. Have cut it off for a period of time then cut it back on; have unplugged and replugged the phone line but nothing works. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

If you have DSL. you need a filter on the line you are trying to fax through.

Sending a fax using the printer control panel:

1. Make sure the printer is on and is connected to a working phone line.
2. Load an original document faceup into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or facedown on the
   scanner glass.
3. From the printer control panel, press the Fax button.
4. Enter a fax number, or press Address Book to select a number from the Speed Dial or Group Dial list.
5. Press Color or Black to select a color or black-and-white fax.
6. Press Start to send the fax job.

Try to connect simple phone to fax line and try to dial a number of fax that you are calling from machine.If the line is ok then do the next:
press MENU and # ( service mode) with cursors go to clear, ok, clear all and ok.Turn off and on.
If that doesnt help call service.

Be carefull: the tel. line to fax machine must be connected in L slot, not in small picture of telephone.

Hello. If everything else is working, printing and copying, unplug the printer from the power source. Check the telephone line from your phone company by unplugging the fax machine from the wall jack where it is connected to. Plug a telephone device straight to that wall jack and check for a dial tone. If there's no dial tone, contact your phone company. If there is, plug the fax machine back to that wall jack. You can also try replacing the telephone cable with a another known working cable. Plug the printer back to the power source. Check again. Hope this helps.

Please check that the Phone line for faxing is connected to a seperate NON FILTERED phone line. Not to the dsl line. You can use a line splitter for this. Also the dial up modem may need to remain in your computer for the fax software to dial out. Hope this helps.

The fax machine needs to hear a dial tone first to send a fax. If you have no fax number, what working phone number are you using?

i can not send a fax, it keeps saying phone error, an there is nothing wrong with my phone.
