How to connect a Kenwood audio video surround system to a Kenwood km 209 amplifier

Hello Patricia, the Kenwood KM 209, is a two-channel stereo amplifier, you can only send two signals and amplify them, for example, Left and right front or Main audio output and you will have greater presence of frontal sounds
Audio output left and right rear or Surround, you will have greater presence of the rear sounds
It has the ability to amplify only two channels only
I hope you have clarified the possibilities
I send you the user manual, so you can observe the connection possibilities
Greetings Franco Dosil

Sounds ok but not dialogue...

It sounds to me like you are using the receiver in surround sound mode and the click you hear is the center channel turning off. If you have another center channel speaker, try swapping that for the one you are currently using. If that doesn't fix the issue, then try replacing the speaker wire. If that still doesn't fix it, then the issue is probably inside the receiver and may be either an output transistor that is failing when hot or an electrolytic capacitor that allows too much DC offset when hot.

Reciever keeps yurning itself off after a few seconds

Assuming running from a cold start,

it means protection circuit are activated.

If it runs hot, then turns off then it is thermal cause.

Simple solution could be disconnecting all your speakers

and power up.

If it runs OK, then reconnect one at a time to find the cause.

If disconnecting the speakers doesnt do anything,

these unit needs repair.

Start checking out power supply

Check the supply rails to the main amp ( B+ and B-)

and most important , check for DC offset voltage on all amp outputs.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Hey,i have a problem with krf5100,when i do speaker custom setup,my RB and LB wont work, they even dont appear to display like L and R .whats the problem?

First of all, the KRF-V510 doesn't support direct powering of the Surround back but it does have a Pre Out to drive externally amplifed Surround back speaker(s).

The indicator for BS on the front panel is NOT an indication of speaker presence. It IS an indication of the INPUT presence of that channel.

During setup you will only see RB or LB ...

Page 17: IF you have something other than OFF set for Surrounds....
Page 17, step 9: AND you select something other than OFF if you have Surround back Speakers attached to the speaker connectors...

.. and complete the rest of the setup properly. You should HEAR the Test Tones on all speakers. If the Surround Back is inaudible you would need to investigate the external amp/speaker combination you're using.

My kenwood is only playing sound from the front 2 speakers the center and surround is not working. is there a fuse inside i can change? what do i need to do?

Not a fuse. Go through all the setups and speaker definitions or maybe just find that pesky "stereo" mode switch and reset it to something that allows all the channels to operate.
