I have an old singer fiddleback with coffin box and excellent cabinet. The serial numbers are 4460938 524938. Would like to know the age and approximate value, I have not tried to sew on it or thread it as I am not familiar with how to do this and I have no manual. All help will be appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Mary H.

SOURCE: don't know how to thread Pixie by Singer sewing

try this site, I copied the instructions, but could not get the picture. when you get to te site i put dpxie in and search, on page 11 is the picture of the threading,

from the thread spool bring thread to the left, under the plate and up through the ****, around the round flat disk, then down the front of the machine (looks like a split in the machine) thread goes in this and around the u-turn (picture of a line that looks like a u-turn) an back up the opening opposite the first one. bring thread through hole in the metal loop, bring thread back down to needle area. there may be one or two places to loop thread behind hooks to keep the thread straight then through the needle from the front to the back.
(in the needle area DO NOT WRAP the thread around the hooks, the thread should just rest behind them to keep the thread straight to the needle)

http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

1. Set the Power Off/Speed Switch to the OFF position.
2. Raise the presser foot lifter.
3. Turn the handwheel counter-clockwise until the needle is in its highest position.
4. Set the thread spool on the spool pin.
5. Bring the thread under the thread guide slot at the top of the machine and then slip it into the tension disk (1). Pass the thread into the tension disk, making sure it slips into the disk securely.
6. Bring the thread down, go around the U-turn (2), then bring it back up.
7. Pass the thread through the eye of the take-up lever, from right to left (3).
8. Bring the thread back down and thread the guide which is just above and to the right of the needle(4).
9. Thread the needle from front to back (5).

What is the age of my Singer Sewing machine Serial No. D-405527 treadle type with wooden cabinet

According to http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-d-series-serial-numbers.html , the D405527 is a model 27 that got its serial number in 1908. (The batch of serial numbers was assigned on July 21; the next batch of serial numbers for the model 27 were assigned on October 7, 1908.) Since it could take a year or two to build and test the sewing machines, your machine probably came out of the factory in 1909 or 1910.

I hope this helps.

Where do I find the serial number on old singer sewing machine. I've turned it over and found a number on it but can't find anything online. I have no idea the be of this machine

Singer machines have the serial number mounted on the top of the flat bed on the right-hand side (front of the machine). See https://www.singermachines.co.uk/faq/finding-model-from-serial-number/ for a picture of the serial number location. This is the hand-wheel side of the machine. If the machine is in a built-in cabinet that covers this area, you may need to remove the housing. Some old machines could have had the rivets damaged and lost the serial number plate.

I hope this helps.

Value and age of Singer Sewing machine?

This may help:

Singer Sewing Machine Company Serial Numbers

If it is the K number, there were 20,000 machines made. So, the likelihood is that there are still a lot of them around. Value is very subjective based on several things including the physical and mechanical condition, accessories included, rarity of the model, etc. FWIW, it seems that the wood cabinets really don't appear to add much, if anything, to the value.

I have an old Singer Treadle Sewing Machine but do not know where to locate the serial number to help find the value. Where should it be located?

Hard to say. Serial numbers can be found almost anywhere. Sometimes they are stamped in the metal of the base, maybe under the machine. Check the edge of the base if it is installed in a cabinet. Machines like this usually have only a serial number, no model number. The serial number will designate the model number on this list:

Singer Sewing Machine Company Serial Numbers

Don't expect it to be worth a whole lot of money. Most of the time, their biggest value is to the owner who can continue to use these awesome machines for many years yet.

What type of sewing machine is a singer 15-91 is it antique

The Singer 15-91 is a cabinet straight (lock) stitch sewing machine; usually it was for home user's. Multiple feet were available for it. Since Singer started making machines in 1871, it isn't that old. The model was sold in the 1940s and 1950s. The manual for the Singer 15-91 is available from the Singer site, http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals . Enter the model number and click Search. The direct link to the PDF of the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/8d903d48695caade8f297664674de354a175ca4c.pdf . You can also buy a copy of the manual from the site. A portion of the adjustment/repair manual is here: http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/15-91.pdf . If you look for your machine's serial number, you can find out exactly when your machine was built. Go to http://www.singermachines.co.uk/faq/singer-sewing-machine-company-history/ and scroll to the bottom of the page. Use the serial number to determine which link will provide the age of your machine. (No letters, one letter or two letters at the start of the serial number are common.) The position of the serial number varies with the age of the machine but is usually on the front or side (motor side of the machine).

I hope this helps.

I have a Singer that was passed down from a grandmother. The only identification I have located is this number embedded in the wood cabinet: AD83648. Can that number be used to determine the age of the...

Yes, the Singer UK site has a history of the Singer sewing machines with a list of the year of manufacture. For a serial number that starts with 2 letters, see: http://www.singermachines.co.uk/faq/tell-sewing-machine-age-from-two-letter-serial-number/ . The AD83648 was built in 1935 n Elizabeth, NJ.

I hope this helps.
