It was never hardware tested by the manufacturer with larger capacities and definitely cannot accept any SDHC cards (4GB and upwards); I have also tried one in the past with a 2GB SD card and it was unusable. SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity. It was a technical evolution which broke the 4GB maximum capacity of SD cards and allows up to 32GB. In turn they are eventually due to be superseded by SDXC cards (ecure Digital eXtended Capacity) which allow a maximum of 2TB.

Your problem is that your camera only takes standard SD cards up to a maximum of 2GB. The card you have bought is likely to be a 4GB SDHC model.
