Your laptop is having a problem.

First make sure you can see it charge either on the taskbar where the system time is shown.
Then if you see it charge then you'll that it's charging. If you have a similar laptop or ask a friend to see if the adapter charges the battery if so then your battery needs to be replaced. If the battery loses the charge after being charged then the adapter needs to be replaced. If both the battery and adapter work together then it's time for it be tuned up.

Secondly take out the battery and plug it in so you see if it stays on. It probably will so what you do is take the battery and see on the internet if there's been a recall of laptop batteries for Compaq Armada.

From your description it seems the battery hasn't been charged right, so there maybe something wrong with the battery or laptop. First, do a clean to the your Compaq Armada M700 battery and the connection chip on your laptop, then to see if there is something get better. When you charge you laptop, there will be a lights to note the state, do you have noticed? Else if your Compaq laptop battery are used for 2 years please try a new one

How do i get to the recovery partion on compaq armada m700

Dear Lizanne,

To get to the recovery partition on your Compaq Armada M700, turn on the notebook and press F11 repeatedly until "Windows is loading files..." displays on the screen. Then, follow the on-screen instructions.

If your notebook originally came with Windows XP or an earlier version of Windows, try pressing F10 to enter recovery instead of F11.

Hope you may find these instructions useful!

How will I know if my laptop Compaq Armada m700 is fully charged already?

Hi

You do not say which operating system you are using.

Right click on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen > properties > notification area > tick the Power under System Icons - Select Which Items to always show > Apply > OK > float the mouse on the battery icon to see % of charge and charge time remaining.

I hope this helps.

I have the majority of my product key but 3 of the digits are smudged, how can I find out?

If you still have XP or another version of windows installed try using "Magic Jellybean"

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

If you have already reformatted your drive, there is very little else possible that I know of to recover a smudged COA key.

Code 10 error over my network adapter in device manager

You need to download and install the proper drivers from Compaq (now HP). Go to http://www.compaq.com and do the following:

Click "Get Support" at the top.

Enter "armada m700" in the "Enter a product number" box.

Click the little submit button that looks like ">>".

Click "Download drivers and software".

Click one of the "Windows XP" links. Doesn't matter which one.

Scroll down and click the "Download" buttons that correspond to each driver you want to download.

Install the drivers you downloaded.

Compaq Armada M700

Always start with the simplest solution first so start by cleaning all the contacts, AC adapter laptop plug, laptop socket, laptop battery contacts and battery contacts. How have you confirmed power output from the AC adapter? have you used a voltmeter to ensure you are getting power at the laptop end? Have you used a voltmeter to test the battery? Assuming you have tried all this don't forget that almost any component can interrupt power on some laptops, however you're 2 main culprits with this kind of problem are usually power controller (voltage regulator) and in some cases, on a laptop of this vintage, the charge controller built in to the battery. Try it with a different battery if you have one.
