Message Indictator We have 2 RCA 25414RE3 phones purchased approximately 3 weeks ago. They are used at a small business with 4 incoming lines, three of which are connected to the phone. The message indicator light & message display on the phone indicates that we have a message on line 4. The problem is that we do not have a line 4. The phone company has been contacted and tells us that not only is the phone not connected to that line, but there is not a message on that phone number anyway (line 4 is a dedicated fax line). We are wondering if there is a reset of some sort on the phone. The manual that came with the phones does not shed any light on this. We have unplugged the power and phones line from both phones and let them sit over night twice thinking that the a lack of power might reset the memory. Thank you.

On all 4 line phones each line has to be turned on, or off. it is explained in the manual. It is very easy. In my experience each manufactors [4 line phones} develop a problem of cross over, or bleed over between line 1&2 and line 3&4. conversations can be heard between 2 different phone calls.

How do I reset the message indicator light?

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Hi. I have a new 4-line phone (RCA 25414-RE3) and it is connected like the manual says. But it is not separating line 1 from line2 or line3 from line 4. They are both on lines 1 and 3.... can you help

There are a couple of problems you may have.

First, the wall jack may not be wired correctly or the wire you ar eusing is a single line wire.

The easiest to check is the wire, look at the plug and see if it has 4 copper leads. If it only has two in the middle two slots then it will only connect line 1. If it has 4 copper leads then it should pass both lines 1 and 2 (or three and four). The middle leads are line 1 and the outer two are line 2.

If the wires all check out then you may have a wall plate that is not wired for multiple lines on the single wire. That will require a technician coming out and rewiring the plate. There are also adaptors available at Radio Shack that will combine two lines to one wire if you have both lines on the wall plate.

I have a blog on 4 line phones if you would like other tips about them. Go to the tag cloud and you will see 4 line phone.

Message Indicator Light Continues to Flash

Don't know about other models, but I just called RCA small business phone support (800-511-3180) to find out how to clear the message light indicator on my 25210 2-line cordless phone when it continues to blink but there is no message.

All you have to do is hold down the delete button for a few seconds and it will clear. Hope this helps someone else from going batty!

RCA 25414 message light... doesn't

I have 6 of these phones. No problem for a year or so, then one phone got the message light stuck on. Tried some online suggestions without success. Powering down etc. failed to fix it so I stuck a piece of tape over the led.

A couple of weeks ago line 2 failed (externally) and ATT sent a tech out who repaired it and also cleaned up the line. When the line came back, all 6 phones had the message light stuck on!

Talked with the tech here and with the ATT support and nothing worked. Eventually the tech here left as it was not a line fault - but he said he would leave the problem open.

That evening a young ATT guy called. He tried a number of different settings and changes - he was really determined! He called Kentucky and Minnesota and part of the advice was "give up and don't call the customer back"!

Finally he found a configuration option in the central office switch (exchange) for the line called CWMI (Call Waiting Message Indicator). Apparently this option was originally active but was changed when the local trunk was upgraded to fibre over the last year or so.

Once he enabled this option (we have call waiting and caller ID on call waiting on this line), the message lights on all the phones turned off and have worked normally since (10 days), including the one that was "broken" for over a year!

I really credit the tech with persistance on the issue.

Hope this helps someone else out there.

Regards, Hugh

RCA Visys Phone System

We bought this phone for a home business and personal line. We were happy to get rid of the seperate answering machine and thought it was great to have so many features for a reasonable price. About a week later we started to notice a recurring clicking sound that accompanied our conversations, this sound is also heard by the person you are speaking to. I decided to call RCA and see if I had a defective phone... i was informed that this was "normal" for this phone and that there is nothing they can do for me. I plan to return this phone and the additional handsets I bought immediately. Do not buy this phone unless you want to spend your days trying to figure out the morse code clicking that persist through all your calls.

Phone is not recording all messages left

The 25414RE3 isn't the model with the answering machine. The one that has the answering machine is the 25415RE3.

As for the problem, does the answering machine part of the unit actually pick up the line? Does it announce your pre-recorded message? Does it just not record the caller's response?
