I put in a 3 amp fuse like recommended for these units and have had no problem. Either an auto fuse or glass fuse will work fine.

How to connect Humminbird fish finder to Motorguide trolling motor

I would use slip rings to tie existing cable to prop motor support shaft and mount transducer to motor housing. 'slip ring'--metal ring a little bigger than shaft with a nipple the size of the cable. OR call the bird at 1-800-633-1468 or and use some southern/country slang when talking. Best of luck 'you all'.

Does the 561 need an inline fuse,and what size of fuse.

Best precaution is an in-line fuse of a Slow Blow 5 amp near the battery or power distribution terminal.

Put in new battery and still has no power to any thing in the car?

Hi Shane, There must be a bad fuse or fusible link, a broken cable or a bad earth connection. Check the cables coming from the battery to the starter motor and the fuse box. Make sure the negative connection is clean and well tightened and that there are no corroded cables inside the plastic insulation, especially those connected to the battery. Regards John

When i am going down the lake and hit a wave the systems goes off and I have to hit the power button to restart

Hi, check the power and earth connections to the unit. Also it will have a fuse on the positive wire, if it is a glass type fuse get rid of it and fit a blade fuse and holder. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Humminbird 343c will power down on its own

If the unit shuts off on its own, firstly check your power supply. I keep seeing customers running their ssounders from a small, portable battery configuration that doesn't put out the correct voltage...mostly seen with AA size batteries being rated at 1.2 or 1.3 volts (8 batteries times 1.2 volts is only 9.6 volts).
If the power supply is not the issue then I would say the internal power circuit is suspect...this can only be repaired by a competent repair person who knows how and what they are doing. If you open the unit up, you'll not only void the warranty, you run the risk of killing the entire unit from static shock.
Best of luck in your repair!

Humminbird fishfinder keeps blowing 5v fuses .Power ok to base but as soon as you attach fishfinder fuse blows

Most probable component that has gone bad and capable of blowing the 5V fuse would be:
  • voltage regulator IV or transistor;
  • reverse protection diode;
  • zener diode;
  • shorted capacitor.
As the 5VDC normally supplies the logic circuitry, perhaps diagnosis and tests should be focused within that area.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
