Need info is this tv a analog or digital ?

First, is your amp a Technics SU-A600 Mk22? It's hard to help without accurate model info. If that is what you have, your problem is simple. Your amp is analog and your pioneer is digital, incompatible formats.

its either a digital or analog , unless your up converting , id need to know more info , is this a sony tv , are you using the proper remote , is your tv on ch. 3 how is your box hooked up ?? ill need more info to help , thats a tough one with this little info ..

I assume that you are attempting to use the Magnavox converter box to convert digital TV signals received by your antenna system into analog signals for use on an older analog (non-digital) TV set. If that is the case then your first step at troubleshooting the problem should be to view the Magnavox installation instructions to ensure that the converter, antenna, and TV are all properly connected.

Yes, It will work. Since the digital to analog converter will be decoding the digital info but sending analog signal to the TV.

You'll need a digital cable box for that, I'm afraid. The analog tuner in the set isn't compatible with the digital cable signal. The cable company in my city just dropped their analog service. Now you either need a digital converter box, or a "cable box lite" called a digital transport adapter. For digital off-the-air broadcasting you need a digital tuner and probably an amplified or outdoor antenna. The analog TV is rapidly becoming pretty useless except as a display device as analog channels disappear.

Good news, your 42 inch Phillips has a built in digital tuner, all you need is an antenna.
Please post the model of your other Tv and I will check on the tuner type.
