Sounds like the fuel pump is trying to seize (screeching sound). Loss of fuel pressure will cause shut down. Change fuel pump and fuel filter

Why does it shut down while driving?

First, do not run engine low on oil. Next, run tests when it has failed. Spark to plugs? Correct fuel pressure?

Oil light comes on and is dinging.

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

Check engine light is on. Engine sounds like it's knocking. And oil light is coming on. This 2008 Dodge Dakota has only 63,000 miles.

Sometimes that light means overfill oil
Sometimes after changing oil if they put too much that happens
Check the oil level on cold in level place (give it like an hour or so) for the light to reset
If after that the light still on take it to a tech.

Good luck

Loss of oil pressure

How many miles are on the motor? Are you using the correct weight oil?

As oil warms, it gets thinner, and the pressure will drop as a result. When you say the pressure comes back after re-starting, is that after the vehicle has been sitting long enough for the oil to cool down, or does the pressure come back if you shut down and immediately restart?

2004 lincoln avaitor oil light comes on the engine shuts down

Does the oil light come on BEFORE the engine shuts down? I have to ask because it is NORMAL for the oil light to be on when the engine is not running. I had a customer that said the same thing just last week. After we wasted a bunch of time (which the customer ended-up paying for) checking the oil level, the oil pressure, and verifying correct oil pressure gauge, light, and sending unit operation, it turned out that the crankshaft position sensor was bad and causing the engine to shut down and it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the oil light - it was functioning as designed.

If the oil light is coming on before the engine shuts down, the first thing you need to do is check your oil level. If the oil level is OK, you need to check the oil pressure with a gauge to determine if there is an actual engine oil pressure problem or if the oil pressure sending unit, gauge or light is malfunctioning. Also, it is highly advisable to not drive the vehicle AT ALL if the oil pressure light is coming on while driving until the cause of the light coming on has been determined and repairs have been made. Otherwise, SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE may result.

During the summer time it will cut off sounds like it is loosing fuel pressure will turn over, but wont start back up until at least an hour later. Drives perfect during the winter time no problems,...

What causes this is ussually the oxygen sensor. It works when the engine heats up and if its no good, it will run your engine lean or even shut it down. check them and replace them. They should be done every 2 years.

Car wont start

when you press the brake pedal the brake master cylinder vacuum booster takes vacuum away from the engine and that slows the idle speed just enough to trigger the low pressure oil light. Pull the oil pressure sending unit out and hook up an oil pressure test gage, if the pressure is above 15 PSI hot engine idle in drive replace the oil pressure sending unit.
