Hello,

Their are 2 different ways to remove the top based on when that washer was made the manufacture used differnt methods this is how to do it on each style

remove diagonal panel between washer and control panel

in the back of washer top will either be 2 brass colored clips
or in the very back egde of top will be 2 5/16th inch hexhead screws

for clips place a small screwdriver in front of that clip and pop clips off and slide top forward

for the screws remove screws from behind top in the left/right corner..pull top forward a bit and lift up a little the plug for the lid switch will be in front right side..squeeze the release for that plug, unplug swicth plug then remove top

in both cases lid switch asm. will be on right side of top on the underpart of it

All of the water drains out of the washer, but the spin cycle is not spinning all of the water out of the clothes. They are still too wet for the dryer.

It could be the micro switch on the lid. Lift the top cover off from the front to access the lid switch. Use an ohm meter to check the switch or temporally short the two switch leads together to see if the washer spins. If it does replace the switch. If it does not you need to service the transmission.

How do I acces the lid switch on my kenmore washer

The following link explains step-by-step how to access and/or replace the lid switch on a Kenmore top loader:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

Most lid switches are located under the right hand side of the top panel. Some, are located adjacent to either lid hinge. In any case, you still need to remove the washer exterior case to access it. The switch is held in place with a couple of mounting screws with a ground wire attached. This is a very simple repair, but if you experience any difficutlies please let me know. I hop this helps you.

Kenmore top load washer- have to bang lid several

Hi,
This is most certainly caused by a faulty micro switch on the lid. Have the switch checked out and replaced if need be.

Best wishes,

Kenmore 23812 top load washer

The lid switch is ususlly the first to go. Luckily, it is easy to replace. To test the washer, connect the lid switch wires together. If the washer spins, you need to replace the switch.

Kenmore Top Load washer

You can replace the switch, it appears, without lifting the lid. I've ordered the repair manual (LIT4314044) but I can feel the connector and wires. It appears that the lid switch can be replaced without taking anything apart. There does appear to be a screw on the back that holds the ground in place.

Lid Switch replacement

ok " unplug washer from wall , ( can not stress enough that there can be no electricity running to that machine)

depending on the washer most have screws on the back at top, you will have to take them out, ok so far , most lids have metal clips holding tops on , pry top up and it will pop loose.

got that far, now look at inside of the top where lid opens and you will see a small micro switch

two screws hold switch in place, electrical wires to switch are cliped on they will pull off

take micro switch to appliance parts store they will match it
take make and model of washer with you

screw in new micro switch and attach wires to switch , and snap
washer cover back on, attach screws to the back , and your all set.

see you can do it
