You can convert FAT32 to NTFS, but you cannot reverse this process. If you want to set up the hard drive for FAT32 you need to delete the NTFS partition the create a new partition and then format in FAT32.

How do i convert FAT 32 to NTFS without formatting / Loosing Files in my Hard Disk Drive?

1) Backup your data!
2) XP or later: Open CMD (DOS Window) "Convert" [Drive:] /fs:ntfs

To verify you have the command available, in Cmd window, type "convert /?" that should bring up the various parameters to use with the command. If convert is not available, it will return "unrecognized command".

After I format my hardisk for several times and the file system still showing RAW. how to make it ntfs.

Install the drive on a working computer and access through disc management. that will allow you to initialize the drive and format it ntfs. Goto my computer right click select manage select drive management. This works on XP if you have other OS than search for disc management for your OS.

How do I format my new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex Hard Drive to Fat32 for use with Xbox 360? I am using Windows 7 and when I open up the formatting options only NTFS and exFAT are available.

Windows Disk Management can only format a hard drive less than 32 GB to FAT32. If you want to format your 500GB drive to Fat 32, you need to use third party program like AOMEI Partition Assistant. http://www.disk-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html

I want to format my 2 T hard drive from NTSF to fat 32 , how to do please help

Ok this fix will erase all Partitions on the drive, Make sure you have all data back'd up.
Open Command:
Go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Or Type cmd in Start menu search box and hit Ctrl+ Shift+ Enter.
You should have a black MS-DOS prompt on your screen. Type DISKPART in and press enter. Another window will open
Type: list disk It will the display list of devices with memory storage. Find your disk, It should be in a Table(kinda). You have to locate it by its size. so look for 1TB(1000GB) In this Example its Disk 2, yours may differ.
type in: Select disk 2
Execute the rest one by one: CLEAN CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SELECT PARTITION 1 FORMAT FS=FAT32 ASSIGN EXIT
Wait for one command to complete before running another
You should be left with a working FAT32 Device :P

How can I format my newly bought Seagate 250 GB External Portable Drive into FAT32 system. Are most dvd players now with usb support for divx cannot access external drives that are in NTFS format such as...

You can specify the format type on the option page for format before you press the format button when displaying the drives in "My Computer"

Additionally, you can CONVERT an existing FAT or FAT32 partition to NTFS. Follow the steps below for Windows XP:
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
  2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert: convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS: convert e: /fs:ntfsNote If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.
  3. When you receive the following message at the command prompt, type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER: The type of the file system is FAT.
Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter
  4. When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following message at the command prompt:Conversion complete
  5. Quit the command prompt.

Formatting my Freeagent 1tb external hard drive for my Mac?

the problem is that your western digital operates using the NTFS (New Technology File System) which is the standard file system of Windows. Apple macs is not interopable with native NTFS therefore you need to install a read-write NTFS file-system driver on your mac.

an excellent free mac NTFS driver can be found here-
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/NTFS-3G.shtml

download and install the software then restart your mac.

Phillips 1TB HDD problem, playing movies hrough DVD player (USB)

My question would be are the movies in the right format. Just because they play on your computer does not mean they will play on you DVD.NTFS or FAT 32 would have no bearing on this. They are simply data per sector protocols and are related to magnetic storage devices. You may need the proper codec for you computer so it can make a DVD you player can play.
