Cannon PIXMA MP460 will not scan documents

Hi there, I recently had a malfunction with my MacBook Pro and I had to have a new hard drive installed. Now I'm unable to scan documents with my PIXMA All-In-One. I have reinstalled all drivers and the Canon CD that came with the printer/scanner, but I keep getting an error message after the document scans that says: Unable to save file. The system cannot find the path spe ified. What does this mean? And how can I fix it.
Thanks, C

SOURCE: Canon Pixma MP460 problem...cannot scan

i was told that the printer needs to be directly connected to the imac (not airport) for the scanner to work.

Try re-installing it again. You may have not installed the application software for scanning if you did a Custom Install.

Issue: ERROR LCD: DOCUMENT IN ADF
Solution: Remove foreign object from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) - MX310
Check the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for obstructions
Follow this procedure to check the ADF for obstructions. You do not need to turn off the power when clearing document jams.
Document jams in the ADF (Document Tray)

  1. Press <Stop/Reset>.

  2. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any documents other than the jammed page from the ADF, then open the Feeder Cover.

  3. Remove the jammed page from under the roller to the Feeder Cover side.

  4. Pull out the jammed document from the ADF. If the document cannot be easily pulled out, proceed to section Document jams in the ADF (inner side).

    pullout.gif

  5. After removing the jammed document or if a document is not jammed, check the document feed area to make sure there is no foreign material. If you find foreign material, carefully remove it.
  6. Close the Feeder Cover.

Note : If documents remain in the ADF after pressing the Stop/Reset button during scanning, "DOCUMENT IN ADF" appears on the LCD. Press the OK button so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.

When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

Note: The document may not feed properly depending on the media type, or your environment, such as when the temperature and humidity are either too high or too low.
In this case, reduce the number of document pages to approximately half of the loading capacity. Another alternative is to scan from the platen glass
    .

  • If documents remain in the ADF after pressing <Stop/Reset> during scanning, [Document in ADF] will appear on the LCD. Press <OK> so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.
  • When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

I have an older Cannon MP 460 Printer. Can I attach it to a MacBook Pro laptop

Jill - There are a lot of apple operating system drivers for your printer. You need to match the operating system your macbook has and download the driver file from the macbook internet browser and install it on your Macbook Pro. (don't download it from a non apple p.c as apple won't read the file without hassle )

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro, replacing my P.C. I can print but can't scan and send documents. I like my MP600 and would like to be able to use it in this way. I have the computer connected...

Hi
Did you install the Canon Software onto the Macbook?
Try this
Open your applications folder and locate an app called "Image Capture"
Open it. It may say that there is no image capture device connected, but it gives you a browse button. Click on it and wait a moment (make sure that the printer is powered up first of course). With a bit of luck you should suddenly see your printer listed. Give it a click and do OK or whatever it asks and then the scanning softare should start up. It will give you the c hoice of what to do with the scan in the 'scan to' box.
Post back if it works. (it generally does.)

I have a cannon MP 160 printer/scanner. It does not work on a Mac

Uninstall all your drivers (and delete the preferences) and download the Mac drivers from this link. The drivers that came with your printer were developed before Snow Leopard came out.
