To set the password in this router you will need to log into it first. open your browser and in the address bar type in the ip address for you router. It will ask for the current user name and password. Once you have logged into the router go to the administration page. There you will see how to reset the password for administration of your router. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds. You'll now have reset the WRT54G to factory settings.
1. Now connect to your router. 2. Log in to your router by typing in 192.168.1.1 in your browser. 3. You'll be asked for a username and password. Leave the user blank and type in admin as password. 4. Now secure your router again.

By lock, I take it that you mean how to secure it. In order to do this, you have multiple steps to preform at will, such as enabling encryption, or changing the admin password. Basically, it sounds like you want to enable encryption, so you will need to log into the router's configuration settings page (the webpage used to initially setup the router), go to the wireless tab, wireless security sub-tab, select a type of encryption (WPA2-Personal/PSK recommended, or at least WPA), enter the desired passkey, and click Save Settings at the bottom of the page. *Note: I order to connect wirelessly after setting up the encryption will require inputting the encryption on the connecting device. There are a couple of things you could have done. Did you turn DHCP off? Are you just trying to use this as a WAP? The easiest thing to do is plug your computer into one of the ports on the Belkin, and nothing into the LAN port, do an IPCONFIG release and an IPCONFIG renew and let the computer get a new IP address. Then try logging into the gateway address displayed.

If you're doing a WAP, set an SSID, set the IP address to your 235 and gateway to 1, turn off DHCP, or let it pass through, because you're going to let the Linksys give out all IP's, then plug the linking cable into network, NOT USING THE WAN port. From the network, you should be able to ping 192.168.1.235 if you can, point your browser to that address and see if you can now log into the Belkin.

in your address bar type 192.168.1.1 and go into your admin screen. if you have password type it in. Go to wireless tab and look up your security settings

Normally this means that you are not putting in the security key or wireless key. Click on the linksys software then go to site survey select your network then click connect and type in the correct security key.

You need to clone (copy) your MAC address from your computer to your router.
