Depending on how old or more to the point how many times you have already charged the battery, it may be worn out. All rechargeable batteries do reach a point where they won't charge up anymore. If you have fully discharged the battery and tried to fully charge it up again and it won't take a charge or only lasts a few minutes on a charge it may be time to recycle it and buy a new one.

Time to replace the batteries. Some batteries will not last very long. My original ni-cads on a Ryobi lasted only 1yr, and the replacement ones are 2yrs old and are still OK. You might be able to check the manufacturing date on your original batteries and that will give you an idea of how long they sat on the shelf before you started using them. Rechargable batteries have limited shelf life.

if you use it every day, it would be normal for the battery to be at the end of its life. ni cads are usually good for 300 charges/discharges
