I plug in my Inport to a USB port on my HP nc8430 laptop running XP (SP3). The computer beeps recognising the USB Audio device. However, the devide soes not appear on the Sounds and Audio Devices as recording device. The Microsoft USBaudio.sys driver appears to be installed and working correctly. Is there a fix for this?

In SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES USB Audio is the default playback, but the only option for Recording is SoundMAX HD Audio.

Hello.

There may be a conflict with your sound card.

From Xitel:

1. Go to START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SOUNDS AND MULTIMEDIA PROPERTIES -> AUDIO TAB

2. Make sure that in the Audio tab your soundcard appears as the Preferred Playback device with USB Audio or INport as the Preferred Recording Device. There should also be a check next to the option 'use only preferred device'.

3. When you start LPRecorder you should also make sure that Recording Device is set to USB Device or INport and Playback Device is set as your soundcard and that there is a check next to the option Simultaneous Playback.

Hope this helps.

Hi Have a HP DVD1170E drive and attempting to Use it on Windows XP SP3. Sometimes when the drive is plugged in the usb port you get the message saying there is a problem with Windows Recognising the...

well how can it be new? (new old stock you meant)
or new to you?
its at least 10 years old.. an old Desk top drive.

this is all there is now, they are deleting this section now.
Questions of the day.?
why run a 3year old dead,OS XP?
its dead, that means when you need drivers its going to be hard to impossible to find or will by found but will be full of VIRUS.
upgrade to w7. (buy a retail license for it and use it)
(ask how)
no system stated, just a DVD #
cant help much with that.
To make DVD and USB work right on XP it needs SP3.
service pack 3, but finding it can be hard.
no stores sell it (brick) no disks marked XP with SP3 now.

plug it in to a new machine, say w10 laptop or desktop
if it plugs and plays that means windows still supports it.
and if true may work with W7 too.
then try it on w7? learn where it can work and where not.
and save all this grief.

The emachine model KAWE0 is with operating system windows xp sp1 doesnot recognise any usb device.

Good day sir, hi, usually its one or two ports that does not recorgnise a usb device, but if all ports does not recognise the usb device, check the CMOS setup. check this out;
  • one or two ports does not recognise the usb device, this is a local fault, try to check the CMOS setup, this could also be the port itself is the faulty one having loose connection.
  • all ports does not recognise the usb device, this is a system fault, check again the CMOS setup if the USB port is enabled, check the USB device itself also. to make sure use another pc to test the usb device.
A computer virus can also cause the usb port to malfunction, run an anti virus software, if possible you can reinstall the XP and test the USB port afterward.

If all else fails, you can buy a USB card and plug it on the expansion slot on your PC.

Usb ports (HP Pavilion dv2000 Laptop) unable to retreive data

NO OS STATE is this the XP virus maget , dead for 3 years now?
XP does not work on many USB devices even after the SP3 update
and THE SP3 UPDATE is mandatory. service pack 3
DV2000
id bet you if you booted to linux CD, (knoppix 7 live)
all usb ports work, telling you what, in seconds, XP IS DEAD.
for a fact.

google XP USB dead, (billions of hits for 16 long years)
MS dont support this OS nor VISTA or older.
HP does not support DV200o now its legacy hardware now.
MS plug and play is dead too on XP. per there warnings.
The means all new XP things will be dead, if the maker of said things
does not give you Their soft or that thing..

if hell bent on using XP ,(why) upgrade to W7
then get SP3 there.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55245

it came new with XP
and was VISTA READY, best is to go W7. !

Goodwill store has $20 laptops with W7 on it working now.
why wait, dump yours, and UPGRADE HW/SW all at once
and WIN.
why to not RUN XP (endless bad and advancing....)

Windows XP wont install USB card readers

Did not reinstall the needed drivers. Download drivers from manufacturer support and install them.

Maybe just maybe you can use device manager to install the drivers by searching the web for them. Only take a minute to make the attempt.
