We have a 1120 Jazzy and my daughter left it out in the rain. It worked to get it indoors but now, it's not working. We've had a service engineer spend one hour checking it and couldn't get to the bottom of the problem. Any ideas?

We would like to know what parts of the machine are the most vulnerable to moisture. We think that the controller has dried out. We are writing from the UK by the way.

Hi,

One of the components got wet. Check the Joystick harness for moisture and see if the circuit breaker button has been triggered . A volt meter can be used to see where the power is stopping at.I like to start at the Batteries (12.25 volts min. each) to function properly.

I assume there are no lights at all on the joystick assembly when you try to turn it on?
There should be a 4 pin cable leaving the main control box that goes up to the joystick assembly. Actually it is two cables that connect together - a first half, then a 2nd half. Check that connection we that connect together at the half length point - take it apart and plug it together again. Inspect the both of these cables for damage or kinks. Trace this cable back to the main control box, unplug it there and check for 24 volts coming out of that box again from the connector that feeds to the joystick. If you truly only have 8 or 9 volts on this connector, then the main control box is defective. This does not happen very often. I only replace about 1 out of every hundred service calls.

So, weak link is always the joystick. I would recommend you to speak to him to check and replace the joystick as it seems to be a problem in your case.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi,
The service engineer who worked with it, is he a Jazzy Wheelchair Certified? These people at Southwest Medical can help you determine what the problem is and if there are parts that needs replacement, they will be able to tell. Here is the link to get to them http://www.southwestmedical.com/replacement-parts/pride-mobility/jazzy-1120-2000 and also here's the number to dial to talk to a live person 1-800-236-4215.
If the service engineer was not able to figure out what the problem was while he was doing hands-on troubleshooting, so we can't.

Jazzy 1120 changing controller type?

The 1120 usually comes with either of 3 different controllers: Pilot, Remote Plus or Europa. They function similarly but the setups are a bit different.

My hand controler on my jazzy 1120 2000 keeps blink and I can not get the chair to move the batteries are good

GAdams You need to count the number of flashes. The number of flashes will give you the flash code or error code. IE: 3 flashes pause 3 flashes pause etc. = left motor short If you have your owners manual it should list the flash codes and what they mean for your chair. If not you can contact Pride Mobility @ 1-800-800-8586 and ask for Tech Support. If medicare paid for your chair the they will pay most of the repair cost. Contact the provider where you got your chair to see if they can repair it or refer you to a service Company that can. Hope this helps

Pull the forward and to right to lock position, which will release the gear so that the wheelchair can be move about without any electric power. Bear in mind though that releases the gear, still too heavy to push as normal wheelchair. Give a go, to find out for yourself.
