I just purchased a new DVD. When I load it it readys loading then reads "no disc" and will not play.
There is a note in the DVD case that says "it is possible that this DVD was manufactured after your Disc player and your player may need a firmware or software update. Please consult your hardware manufacturers website for the latest firmware or software version.
I cannot locate any information regarding firmware or software on the website. Is there anything available for my machine or shall I just return the DVD?
If your DVD player says no disc, Sometimes it's because the disc is scratched, sometimes it's the machine having some problems. First, make sure that your DVD is intact and undamaged. If there is something wrong with your player, then you can start doing something to fix it.You can restart the player to check it. Or you can clean the DVD laser lens.
That player is at least 5 years old. The DVD market has changed a lot over the last 5 years. Blue ray and HD and now UHD and 4K so it is time to get a new player. Most places wont take a DVD back after you open it.

first try to clean the lens as if its not played very much a film of dust or grease ect ect can be on the lens. If that dosent work then your gonna have to clean the lens maually If you wanna take apart the unit you can then very carefully clean the little lens in slow circular motion BUT BE CAREFULL. if that dosent work the palyer may have went out of alighnment or the laser assy is defective. Good Luck

open the cover of the unit, but be sure that it is unplugged. try cleaning the lens with a soft dry cotton swab. donot put any cleaning liquid on it. just dry cotton swab. also put the nozzle of the duster on the lower part of the lens assembly to remove the accumulated dust. if its still doesnt work have it check by a qualified service technician. good luck!

Have you tryed to use a lens cleaning disc yet. The laser lens on these players and recorders alike, must have the lens cleaned every oince in awhile. If that does not help, most likly you have a bad laser pickup assembly and you will need to replace the plaer as to have that repaiered, you could buy a new unit. Good Luck

clean the laser lens first! or you have damage flex ribbon wire. change flex ribbon wire

Hi
The drive is not reading the disk. This is either caused by a fault in the laser/lens/drive itself or caused by dirt in the drive effecting the lens.
There is a Laser cleaning DVD that you can purchase from any audio shop - its not expensive and useful to have around anyway. I would recommend you try one of these and you may find that it will resolve the problem as a simple and quick fix.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.
