If you want to spent about $250 for the panel and $100 plus to have someone install it. What is your location? Whirlpool only offered this model, designed in 1999 with white, black or almond colored panels. You would have to have one custom made. I suggest a sheet metal roofing firm as they would have the appropriate tooling to manufacture your part quite easily. You would have to take them your old one to measure. The budget seems prohibitive when you could buy a new washer for the equivalent time and effort. Good luck.
I'm pretty sure Appliance Art can help you. They sell stainless steel panels for dishwashers that can have the front panel replaced and they sel faux stainless for the dishwashers that don't. They were just on DIY network, HGTV, and the Today show. www.applianceart.com
Check out www.applianceart.com they have a ton of options including stainless steel. If your panel is not replaceable, they also have stainless film that can go over your existing panel. Several other options too, some are funny.
Yes you can get black control panels through an appliance parts supply store. You will need the make and model number of your dishwasher and you will have to specify that you want the control panel in black.
I have two options for you to consider. One is to take your panel to any sheet metal fabricating shop and have them make a stainless steel version for you. The other is to get a spray can of stainless steel appliance paint and apply it. i have used the stainless steel paint on entire appliances with excellent results.

I have the use&care guide for this unit. It explains how to change the panels - I also notice in ebay that you can order generic stainless ones. I'm going to remove my white panel to install the stainless.
