My sylvania tv turns on then turns back off - Sylvania 6842-PEM 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television

Something may have happened in the DVD unit to take out the main fuse in the power board, start by checking that

The way it can be brought back to normal is by pressing the "Standby" button on the tv and wait 5 seconds. Then press it again and as the TV was turning on, press the "Menu" and "Source" buttons on the tv simultaneously and when the tv was on it was on the menu. Turn the tv off with the remote turn it back on again with the remote. Should be back to normal. Hope it helps someone, it worked for a friend who had the same problem.

Return it where u bought it and get a new tv replacement,tv have power supply board issues.That the board where the tv power a/c cord plug into it.Or not possible trade in for another new tv,call Sylvania for warrenty service tv repair fix.

your powersupply is dying in the set.. have it checked..

it sounds like one of the boards are going out I would call sylvania and check with there service dept maybe they can send a tech and part out under warranty

First you should check the fuse and the wiring in your tv by removing the back cover. Make sure no wires are bare or touching. If there are any, wrap them with electrical tape.
If you cannot see anything wrong by looking, then it is probably the set has a bad transformer (high voltage)

Simply unplug the set, let it sit for a minute or so, then plug it back in and turn it on. I had a similar problem with the same TV and it is working fine now.
