There is an internal switch for record/playback. This commonly fails causing this issue. It will need to be replaced.

How do I improve the volume on recorded TV shows?

  • If you record from an outside source, turn up the source (e.g.digital receiver) volume. If recording sound from a VCR's own tuner, tape path, especially the drum(once you open the cover)and linear voice recorder post (to the right after the drum)must be cleaned. Get instructions from the web how to do the cleaning, otherwise you may damage the machine. Switch to hi-fi track if you have one and adjust the tracking.

Olympus ds 40 can't display recorded voice folders on pc

There are a total of eight folders in the recorder that are in a tree format. Under the “Root” folder
are “Folder A” through “Folder E”, “Audible” and “Music” folders, and recorded or transferred
Language and music data from a computer can be saved as “files”. “Folder A” through “Folder E”
are voice-recording folders, so choose one of these five folders when recording on this recorder.
Up to 200 files can be saved in each folder, and up to two layers can be created within the “Music” folders.

I recorded my professors lecture and the recorder was right next to her, when I listen back I can barely hear a thing all there is is her voice but muffled because it sounds like a loud wind

During Playback you can press + or - buttons to adjust the volume. Maybe this is your problem. If you need more info watch video instructions chapters for Olympus on http://www.HandBookLive.com under Electronics-> Audio. There are 20 different video chapters. The info about + - buttons for volume during playback was chapter 7 (Playback)
