Hello daved8520,
First of all, you need to check the quality of the kind of battery you use in the voice recorder as some batteries are not good enough to power up this device for longer hours.
If the battery is original and still gets drained faster than normal. Then it is clear that the recorder kills the cells of the batteries. And the reason it will be doing that is because there is a bridge in the terminals of the recorder.
If the negative and positive of the terminals get bridged, they tend to kill the cells of any battery it comes in contact with faster.
The solution to such problem is simply for you to have the terminal of the voice recorder replaced and it wont kill the cells of the battery in it anymore.
Hope this information helped.
Goodluck

Thank you for your reply. I further analyzed the problem and I realized that the battery was draining while the recording device was turned off. It was in hold. The batteries were new batteries designed for digital devices. After 5 days the battery voltage dipped from 1.59 to 1.001. I never even used the device. You said that the terminals were bridged. Does it mean that there is a short circuit near the terminals. I looked for one but couldn't find it. Do you have any more solutions after what I wrote above?
