How do I drain the water system for our cottage fridge for winter. Would it work if I hooked up the input pipe to an aircompressor at 50PSI and blead the water out? Getting a technician out to the cottage is not an option.

2 things, Usually when you disconnect the water the rubber seals stick to the plastic walls of the inlet valve housing when the water evaporates. This is the most common cause.

The other is the module linked below goes bad. If you remove the white cover on the front of the ice maker most times you will see a tab broken off of the larger gear in the center. A picture of the module is linked below.

After you unplug the refrigerator, turn off the water, then drain it by pulling it away from the wall and disconnecting the water supply tube. Let water drain from the fridge into a pan and leave the tubing disconnected.

What is required to winterize my yard sprinkler system.? WILL MY PIPES BURST IF SYSTEM IS SHUT DOWN..??

That depends on what was installed. Some systems have a drain at the end of each circuit or zone. When there is no water pressure, the drain opens and lets the water in each line run out. If you have this then you only need to make sure that the main line supplying the water to the valve manifold is drained. If you are not sure, then you need to hook a large compressor to the system and blow the whole thing out. Usually there is a connection at the vacuum breaker that you hook an air hose to, shut off the water inside the house and then turn on the compressor, when it builds up enough pressure you turn each circuit or zone on and let the air drive the water out. When the zone is done, you move to the next one.

I will be shutting down my cottage and want to winterized my kitchenaid fridge. I have have tried using The red RV anti freeze fluid in the reservoir but it leaves a foul taste in my ice cubes and wat

It may be better just to drain it. I assume it is a side by side. They usually have a connector just behind the grill. This can be disconnected and if you disconnect the water line from the water valve in back the reservoir should drain. you could possibly remove it by installing tubing couplers in the lines, if there is enough tubing to work with, so it could be installed again. They usually are cheap and easy to install I doubt they already are installed.

Water leaking from underneath. Not currently

This could be a blocked drain.Behind the fridge is a hose/pipe running from the inside of the fridge down to the compressor where the water will then evaporate. If this pipe is blocked, the water will push up back into the fridge.Try to blow the hose clean from inside the fridge. This should solve your problem.
