I'm trying to burn a song to a CD-R using a Boss BR 1180 but every time it completes, there's no song on the CD. I record, bounce, record on 9/10, then try to write to CD and it never works.

"it never works"... this is NOT enough information for us. You are not telling us how the CD is tested. If you are testing it in a boombox type player, that is not a test. First thing is to look at the bottom of the CD to see if you can detect written tracks... with right lighting you can tell if it has been burned. REMEMBER that CD's, unlike phonograph records, are written from the middle outward. Many consumer players have trouble playing CD's that are written but not "finalized". If you CAN see written area (compare to unburned CD) then likely the burning is taking place, and the problem is the format is either not complete or incompatible with your player. Try reading the disk in your computer. Also you might want to visit the forums for the Boss/Roland workstations at VSPLANET.com.

What are the exact steps to bounce tracks on the Boss Micro BR

It’s necessary to bounce all of your tracks to a stereo pair of tracks before you can export your song to a computer as a WAV or MP3 file for burning onto a CD.
1. In normal mode, push EXIT and UTILITY until you see BOUNCE on the display.
Note: The upper right corner of the display shows the track you’re bouncing to. By default, “12V2”—Tracks 1 and 2, Virtual Track 2—is selected.
2. Press STOP and REWIND together to go back to the beginning of the song.
3. Press RECORD, and then press PLAY.
4.When the song’s finished playing, press STOP.
i read some stuff online and this should help.

BR-1180 Cd will not burn CD's does it call for

Don't know if this unit is sensitive to the type of CD, but my Phillips recorders will ONLY burn the "Music CD's" (harder to find, more expensive). Read up on the difference of regular vs Music CD's. ALSO some recorders will not burn disks rated at lower or higher rates.

When bounce tracks on my micro-br there seems static going on

First of all, it would be better for you to pan the tracks, and bounce into 2 tracks for stereo separation.

Your "static" may stem from three pausible causes.

One, four tracks into mono may make your output a little muddy.

Two, watch the reverb - if you keep applying reverb after each bounce, it starts to sound bad.

Three, if you have drums/rhythm, turn it off while bouncing. Only have drums on when mastering, because they will keep getting re-recorded during bouncing.

What do I need to burn a cd from my pc with the br 1180

This Is real simple grab a cable that goes from rca jacks to a headphone jack then plug the rca jacks into the br-1180's audio out jack and then plug the other end into your computers mic port.
Download Audacity From www.Audacity.com and then use it to capture you audio and then you can burn that when complete.
Its real simple I do it all the time even though I have the br-1180cd the cd burner burns real quiet so I don't use it. The cable can be bought at radio shack, best buy, wal-mart and I have even seen them at 99 cent only stores.
If you have more question let me know This Is my main unit so I know a lot about it.
Sincerely,
Michael Scott

No CD writer for Boss BR-1180

Hey mike yeah you can hook a regular cdr drive to the ribbon but the problem is if its not a slim it most likely wont fit inside the unit. Also the built in c.d r is way over rated mine has it and I still bounce it all onto my computer and then burn it from there. The one on the br-1180cd burns very quiet.

Is the Boss Dr-5 compatable with the Boss BR-1180 mini studio?

Midi doesn't actually "make sound". If your trying to record the patterns you made on the DR-5 to the recorder you need to use an audio output(I don't remember if they are RCA or 1/4" on the DR-5.) The midi output would be used to"trigger sounds" in another device that has sounds built in, or you could also trigger sounds in a program that supports midi input.
