The key here is whether or not the unit clicks. When turned on, you should hear an initial clcik followed a short time later by another. I suspect that you are not hearing the second one. This indicates that the unit is in "protect" mode. Please see the link below for an explanation of protect mode. Feel free to post any additional questions here.

Thanks,
Dan

JVC RX-801V - No sound from right channel in speakers or headphones.

I'd troubleshoot first, even though you've already tried the headphones (good thinking). Get a battery (AA battery works) and put the black and red wires on opposite sides to see if the speakers are working.
Is there a menu of settings on the jvc, and is it set to 5.1? Just trying to help...

Try swapping the speakers or just check the left connections WITH POWER OFF. Disconnect the left speaker completely and see if the clicking stops.

My jvc RX-5020 VBK IS NOT WORKING AT MAX VOLUME,ON SCREEN APPEARS OVERLOAD SOUND STOPS AND I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT ON AGAIN ! WHAT IS GOING ON???

You must be using speakers with lower impedance than what is recommended. This causes the amplifier to over load at high volumes. The protection circuit shuts down the Amplifier to prevent further damage.
And please remember no amplifier is designed to run at full volume, same as a car speed - Even though the speedometer might show max: speed 200Miles per hour would you do it???

I have a JVC RX-703V.. I have set it up, but can't get audio. for some reason there is a VCR1 at the top left corner, even when i have my FM player on.. is this causing the problem, and how do I fix it

idk if you still look at this but you should have speaker 1 pushed in (under the power button) or 2 depending on which you are using. if you only have one set of speakers you can only have one pushed in. it doesn't do only one of you have both pushed in, even though you would think it would do it anyway. if you have none pushed in push the ones you need for the speakers you have. if this didnt help, sorry. <!-- from fixya rte -->

We want to hook up eight speakers in eight differnet rooms (one speaker per room with individual volume control) and hook them up with yamaha RX-V1800 receiver so that we can play all the speakers in...

Hi...
Without a huge mess, I would suggest one of the multi-speaker selectors that partsexpress.com sells or a similar item.
Just put "speaker slector" in their search engine.

If youre going to 8 other rooms..you might try a couple of wireless speaker systems too. They work in stereo and ....no wires

Jvc rx 318 receiver

The problem you describe is common to JVC amps. This control has a motor mounted on the back of the circuit card that drives the volume control up or down using the remote control for this system. The looseness of the volume control cannot be repaired. The shaft has separated from the potentiometer. I don't know if JVC has this part any longer but it has to be replaced as a unit (volume control card).
