My remotr did not work with recever/ model VSX -e7000

since you did not post the model number I cannot tell exactly but that means a cable was not connected to one of the auxiliary boards.

If you don't have the manual for ypur unspecified remote, try to find it on line, using google search for terms

Have a look on e-bay for an original one.

You can remove, disassemble clean with alcohol, put a little powdered graphite on the rubber contacts.
