Auto-off not working

I've had my Treo for over a year. Today I've noticed that the auto-off feature ("Prefs" > General > Power) is not working. When I manually put the screen to sleep by pressing the end-call key, the screen wakes back up again within just a few seconds.

I heard this happens after updating the Treo 650 with the new version 1.17. Is this your case? If so just remove the new update... Anyway, you can try the soft restart or even Performing a system reset(from the user guide p.170): ".. Performing a soft reset A soft reset is similar to restarting a computer. If your Treo is not responding or you have trouble synchronizing with your computer, a soft reset may help. 1. Press the Battery Door Release button and slide the battery door downward to remove it from your Treo. 2. Use the stylus tip to gently press the reset button on the back of your Treo. .."

Treo 650 phones turns off by itself

funny thing... the older palm treos like this one have some glitches. these glitches can normally be fixed by changing some of the settings.

1) go to your home screen, and select PREFS
2)select power
3) set your brightness level all the way to the right (NOTE: it takes more power to dim the screen then it does to brighten the screen.)
4) set auto off after: to the highest number allowed

please let me know if this helps!

How do I access Network Preferences on my Treo? My Treo (T-Mobile) is telling me to "Disconnet Data Connection in Network Preferences and DUN in Blue Tooth Manager." WTF!?!

Here;s the simple walkthrough to get to your Network preferences:

Turn on your Treo 650.
Press the "home" key (looks like a little house on the left of the directional pad).
Navigate to "Prefs" in the main screen.
In "Preferences", the Network preferences are under "Communication".
Since you're using T-Mobile, you'll see "T-Mobile Internet", "T-Mobile VPN", and "T-Zones" if you click on "Service". Make sure your handheld isn't locked though (you'll see the padlock closed).

In the Main screen you will also see Bluetooth. Access this and turn off your bluetooth radio.

One more thing...make sure you're using the latest firmware from Palm. There are features and capabilities that are necessary for your phone.

Go here: http://www.palm.com/us/support/

Download and install the T-Mobile or Unlocked (which ever applies to your phone) firmware and follow the instructions completely.

Good luck.

Nikon D40X stopped auto-focusing yesterday

I had the same problem. My issue was with all my lenses. I solved it by going to the menu and selecting the custom setting menu (pencil icon). Then from the right menu select the AE-L/AF-L and press OK. Then make sure it is set on AE/AF Lock. Presto...all my lenses worked on auto-focus.

Palm treo 650

The 650 seems to have a delicate headphone/mic jack. Dropping the phone, even gently, seems mess up that jack. I returned my first treo 650 as defective, and got a new one. The same thing happened to my new 650 after I simply compressed the phone in my breast coat pocket by holding my mail against my chest.

I can't get a new one because the replacement treo comes with no warranty of any kind. :(

My advice would be to find a PDA/phone repair service to repair the jack or diagnose the problem if it turns out not to be the jack.
