I have Bemis (Esswick) Humidifier Model # 4968. The motor runs fines however I can't get the humidity in my above 30%. I changed the filter and it was close to 45% for a few days but running continuously,...

You should be able to get a higher humidity rate at normal settings. If you want high humidity above 40% that should be easily done with the high speed operation. The unit may need a good internal cleaning, and use a Vinegar solution to clear any Calcium or other mineral deposits from the misting ports and misting elements. You must use only Distilled or Filtered water, not tap water.

My sunbeam humidifier doesn't work

Do you mean Dehumidifier? A machine that takes the humidity out of the air. If this is what you mean and you hear the fan motor working with no water dripping then the problem is that the coil which holds freon gas has leaked out the gas and can be recharged again with the leak fixed of course. Depending how old the unit is you may be better off buying a new model. Repairs can be costly. Hope this helps!

DEHUMIDIFIER IS RUNNING BUT NOT COLLECTING WATER

There are 5 basic, but solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a Whirlpool AD70U dehumidifier with type 3 controls. I have the fan set to auto and the humidity to normal. The unit drains into a floor drain. It seems dry in my basement yet the fan seems to run...

If it's set for Continuous Mode the fan will run all the time. It does so, in an effort to keep recycling the air. Once it senses a rise in humidity, the compressor turns ON. Check the settings, to be sure it's where you think. Also, check and clean the air filter, if necessary. Before removing the filter, be sure to turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit from the wall outlet. If you wash the filter, it most be completely dry, before reinstalling it. Do Not operate the unit without the air intake filter installed.

Make sure you are maintaining at least 12" - 18" clear air space around the entire unit.

To further assist you, in case you have misplaced your Owner's Manual. I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference.

Motor runs, but does not collect any water in yank

Make sure any air filters are clean. Check to be sure the evaporator and condenser coils are very clean. Also could the humidity level in your home just be very low right now and just no moisture to remove? If all of this fails it could be a compressor problem or a refrigerant level issue. If this is the case determine if it is worth the expense to repair.
Good luck
