ALL I HEAR IS ACLICK WHEN I TRY TO START MY 42 MURRAY RIDING LAWN MOWER, EVEN WITH A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY, I WASA ABLE TO MOVE PULLEY BY HAND TO MAKE SURE ENGINE WAS NOT SIEZED, SHOUL I CHANGE THE SOLENOID OR THE STARTER? MOWER IS ABOUT IEGHT YEARS OLD. THANK YOU
Your problem is the saftey switch located under the mower. Look for wires that go to a switch where the lever to engage the blades connects. The other saftey switch in under the seat. Try using a screwdriver to 'Push" the button on the switch when starting. Sometimes you can agjust the position of the switch.
With switch off try crossing out the solenoid. take an old screwdriver and place it on the two metal contacts jetting out from the solenoid usually by the battery or close to the ignition. if strarter engages when this is donr replace solenoid. if not replace starter. hope this helps.
Nix on safety switch. If it was a safety switch, you would not hear a click when you turned the key to start.. There would be no power going to the solenoid. However, if your engine has the fuel shutoff solenoid beneath the carb bowl, it will make a faint click when you just turn the key to the 'on' position. Probably as thabrain says, a bad solenoid.

When I try to start the Murray Select 30" riding mower, I only hear a click. I have used the battery charger to boost it and i heard it crank slightly but never start. What could be the problem?

I had the same problem. What I did was lightly tap the side of the starter with a dead blow hammer. I saw the starter gear turn slightly then I turned the key and it started.
We have had an Sentinel riding lawn mower for at least 15 years. We need parts
Frozen in place how can I move it
