Formatting the player memory

When i turn on my player, it says "Internal memory unknown format. Attach USB and reformat." But when i attach it to the computer, the 'format' option doesn't seem to work for the player. How do i format it then? Or is there any other solution?

This process worked for my m25:
1. Download v1.11 firmware file from http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DigitalAudio
2. With USB cable disconnected, turn off the m25.
3. Press Power while holding Menu button until UPGRADE is shown.
4. Connect m25 via USB cable.
5. Run the firmware downloaded in step 1.
6. Disconnect the USB cable, and the m25 should start a normal.
.

Wow, worked great. When it says hold the menu button, it means hold it down, not in. Takes a few tries to get the upgrader notation to remain on the screen; what helped was once it started loading in general, take your finger off the on/off button, then release the menu button when upgrader appears.
I am very pleased that this finally worked for me.

I obtained sucess, making following steps: 1 - open player. 2 - remove memory SD support. 3 - power on player. in the display appears "UPGRADER". 4 - install memory SD support. 5 - attach usb cable. 6 - upgrade firmware "Firmware v1.11 "

You've must have some how deleted the system files of the player. So what you must do is: format the memory threw the Motorola manager so it could re-install those files. After formatting threw the manager there should be no problem. hope it helps, good luck!!

Probles with formatting and resync sansa e270

hi! you can try reformatting by activating the keylock and then press and hold the record key while turning the power on. it will go to the recovery mode.

plug the mp3 usb to your pc.

open a notepad apllication and create a new blank file.
save as sansa.fmt and change save as type, it should be All Files. it will create a file with 0 bytes.

you can now disconnect the usb and wait til the mp3 displays formatting.. it will reformat by itself.
